OK, I'm guilty as charged. Partially anyway. The charge being that I am spreading lies that I read in a chain email.
If the information in the link provided is true, the following quote is made up. 'I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mother's race.'
However, this quote is factual. 'I ceased to advertise my mother's race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites.' Yes,it's out of context, I get it.
This is assuming that the information in the article linked to is in fact the truth. I have no reason to believe it's not, but I don't care to buy his book. If anyone has it and can do any further verification, bring it to my attention and we can go from there.
SP33Demon did not quote me on the second one and hat's off to you for having the integrity to do so.
GroundedSailor, if you are Moonbeams PR person, (whether appointed or self-appointed) that's your choice. Although it's highly unlikely, if your ever feel the desire to defend me - don't. I'm man enough to do that for myself.
Moonbeam, you lost me as soon as you started the name calling. Most children cease the name calling when they reach adulthood. Your point is lost when you resort to those tactics.
So once again, I apologize for my mistake.
I have tried to stay impartial in my postings regarding this election. I've not decided yet on who I'll be voting for this election, but I will say that I voted for Kerry in the last. Anyone's assumption here that I will vote Republican, vote for or against a man because of the color of his skin is purely conjecture on their part. What I have seen here is a tremendous amount of venom spewing forth from Obama supporters. I don't know how anyone can expect to persuade others to their point of view by belittling, berating and name calling. I don't see your candidate doing that. Why are you?
What I try do is point out the opposing point of view. Trying to get people to think a little bit. But the knee-jerk reactions from Obama supporters here are so predictable that it's hard to resist throwing a zinger in from time to time. A lot of people at the Forums find P&N to be intimidating. I find it highly entertaining.
You all take it so damned serious. We'll survive regardless of who ends up in the White House.
