Has anyone ever used the "international" Verizon plan while abroad?

Verizon has this thing where you can use your current plan for $10/24 hours while abroad. I was wondering if anyone has used it before. This may be a dumb question, but if using it, will you have a US based IP? Or is it going to just pick up one of the networks local to the area?

The reason I ask is because I want to use Pandora while on vacation next week but I already know that Pandora doesn't work in Aruba. So I'm wondering if I do the international plan if I'll have a US based IP so that it will work.

If not I'm thinking of maybe remoting into my desktop at home and running Pandora on there. But I'm not sure how that would work if it will actually play, I might test it out while home.

You can just install a VPN from the US on your phone.

Yep, if you're really that desperate to have Pandora VPN sounds like your best bet. Then you don't have to pay Verizon's ridiculous international rates either. Buy a prepaid SIM when you get to Mexico.

Any good VPN that you know are guaranteed to be US based that do somewhat cheap plans for 1 month?

I really dislike the "cloud" mentality. Now people need to come up with all kinds of hacks (US VPN and international cell phone plans) just to listen to music. Take your $10 for the international plan, use the $10 to buy 24 hours worth of used CDs, put them on your phone or any similar device. Listen to it in Aruba, Siberia, on top of a mountain with no cell service at all, or anywhere you want any time you want without paying another cent. Ownership >> cloud.

I've tried to use Verizon's international plan several times, never once did they actually have service where I wanted to use the phone (even though Verizon claimed there was service in those ountries). I haven't tried Aruba though.

The convenience of the $10 is WWAAAYYY worth the convenience of not having to do everything you are talking about. Plus I am going to first look for a sim to put in my iPhone when I get there before going the Verizon international plan route.

Google Play Music is awesome. It let's me upload my own music files, which I own many, to be played anywhere I go. Plus then gives me access to a massive library of music on a subscription basis and provides a music store I can make purchases. Songs I can download to my phone for listening offline. It's a win win. Used it for years and have had no issues or complaints.

I just use spotify to set all my music to offline mode. Ezpz. And a ton easier than ripping CDs.
