Let me know I'm not alone. It is late and I don't feel like typing all the reasons why the Libertarian party is superior so I'll ask the night owls to do it for me. Maybe we can get some last minute votes for Mr.Browne. Heres an info link: Libertarian Party Homepage

You are definitely not alone. We are going to break the 1,000,000 vote mark this year!! I predict we will take the White House by 2012!

I very much like the libertarian party, but not enough to waste my vote for president. I am voting libertarian for senate, though! If it wasn't such a close race, there would be no doubt in my mind who I would vote for.

DiRF: I believe he would have gotten 15-20% if he was in the debates and if the race was far enough apart to eliminate the nonsensical "wasted vote" theory.

And by 2012 there will be much more of an influence from the internet generation. We will need some things to go our way, but the internet generation tends to be far less ignorant than the current voter population that is brainwashed by the left-wing media.

If only the man was given a chance... it's a damn shame. People, vote for who you believe in and not because the 2 party system has a stranglehold on the election. If everyone followed this view then no 3rd party candidate will ever have a chance. We need competition!

I saw his speech on cspan. The guy is pretty likeable. But think about what he would sound like debating Gore and Bush... he would sound like a dangerous extremist radical compared to them. He sounds good when people give him a chance to express himself fully, but otherwise he would get creamed, if only because the American public isn't ready for what he has to say. I think 15% is a stretch though. I think he can get maybe 7%, but in 4 years he'll be like... well, even older. Do you think he'll still run? He's been the candidate for as long as I could remember (which is 4 years ago hehehe). Who would take his place?

I voted for Harry Browne this morning.

I live in Minnesota, where Gore was pretty much already determined to win, and I don't particularly like Bush (although Gore is the absolute worst).

I really hope Bush wins. I realize Browne has no chance, but I don't care... I can't not vote for Browne and feel good.

Harry Browne is a good candidate, but I honestly believe that we need to start at the local and state levels and slowly work our way up, therefore when a libertarian Pres is in the white house, he will have congressional support.

Ha... I saw his cspan info that he spit out. That guys a loser... He wants to cut the federal government down to nothing. Do you people have any idea what that would do to the strengh of our country. We would be taken over within a week because there would be no funding for the military, the economy would fall apart, hospitols would shutdown due to huge uncontrolled energy rate hikes.

We don't live in a perfect society like Harry Browny thinks we do. The US would turn into Russia in a matter of weeks.

What a loser... :|

Where do you think the majority of the tax money goes? You people think that without having any taxes taken out of your check you are going to have it better? Hardly. The world doesn't go around on free rides.

This whole Party is a joke.

What the hell do you think Welfare, Section 8 housing, and foodstamps are, A FREE RIDE!. Americans now have the highest peace time tax burden since WWII. They are getting a free ride at the expense of hard working taxpayers. Get a CLUE.

Ok so what you are saying is...

I pay 100 for my morgage payment. $90 goes on the principle and $10 goes to the greedy bank. So I should just stop paying the $100? That's the same principle. That way I will get thrown out of my house and lose everything I have just because 10% of the money I give goes to overhead.

Get a life... Welfare and such are being abused, yes. But to totaly shink the government to get rid of REAL programs like military, roads, social security, medicare, foodstamps... would just be totaly ignorate.

"Get a life", eh? Nice to see some intelligent dialogue here.

Military: Browne wouldn't get rid of military, I have no clue where you got this idea. We would, however, save money by focusing on defense and staying out of foreign affairs. You are very naive if you think the military couldn't save significant amounts of money.

Roads: He never mentioned getting rid of roads.. he will make it government responsibility, but you will NOT be forced to fund it if you don't use it.

Social Security: A disaster, good riddance. It'll make me happy to get extra money in my paycheck that's rightfully mine which won't be thrown away essentially. Don't force me to participate in this crap.

Medicare/Foodstamps: These are a little more general, so you'd probably be better off reading Browne's website or the libertarian web site to understand the POV.

In general, however, money is being wasted everyday (and lots of it) in all these special "programs". The evidence is out there, even mainstream media shows on TV such as The O'Reilly Factor has pounded this in to people. Yet people don't seem to care. They happily pay under the naive assumption that their money is going for the greater good.

Ignorate? What's that?

If you read the Lib platform instead of just saying things like "They want to eliminate roads" you might find some interesting debate. Instead you just look the fool.

Mr. Browne's ideas sound good, but I don't think that they'd really work in application. He used one example (love canal) to basically prove that Companies will take care of their own property better than with government involvement.

DiRF,

So would any one of the extraordinary men who helped found the United States of America.

<< You people think that without having any taxes taken out of your check you are going to have it better? >>

BowDown,

You must have attended public school; or perhaps you slept through history class. The income tax did not even exist for most of the history of this country. It didn't even become a payroll deduction until right after World War II.

So, tell us, smart guy, how'd this country get along just fine for 150 years without Federal Piggy stealing money from the individual producer and handing it out to the lethargic?
