i have tried to run several live versions of different linux distributions but to no avail.
tried ubuntu and simplymephis 6.0, everything was ok till this message would come up repeatedly.
/bin/sh : cannot access tty; job control turned off
i tried each half a dozentime and eachtime this comes up. tired to google the problem but to not much success.
tried Knoppix which i was told was quite good as well the a message comes up saying
can't find KNOPPIX filesystem, sorry.
i then gave SUSE Linux 10 a go, and hit a snag there though i didnt record what the message was in thgat instance.
this leads me to think i have a hardware problem somewhere.
this is my system spec.
ASUS P5B Deluxe
Intel C2D E6600
NEC 4571A DVD
Wester Digital Cavier 250GB
ASUS EN7600GT Silent
Corsair XMS2-6400 RAM
Creative Audigy 4
WinXP Home
some help would be much appreciated as i would really like to run a linux distro alongside my winXP
