There's not really much here. Not your fault, it's just that the article boils down to, "Hey we have a 6990!"

My brain hurts on how big that card is.

LOL, AMD sent it to him in this:

Yeah it's a huge beast.

To be fair I only noticed it when it was pointed out, twice before in fact. Sorry if I came accross as a grammar nazi. English isn't even my 1st language. I made numerous posts about the actual card and review, so I don't know what you're on about.

I agree. It's funny, isn't it?

Thank you for that.

isn't Sneak Peak a codename for future Intel Chipset? :)

anyway we can know how long he card is, measure the PCIe connection on a real card, and measure it in the picture. then you get the ratio of lengths, and measure the entire card and multiply by the ratio.
i'm at work so i cant do this right now...someone else willing to do the forensics on this one?

so I guess the 300 watt limit is out the window. Kyle put up some more pics and the 6990 will be using 2x 8pin.

http://hardocp.com/article/2011/02/28/amd_radeon_hd_6990_antilles_sneek_peek_pictures

AMD: Ok, so looks like we are good to go on the 6990.

*Rumour: nVidia GTX 590 to sport dual GTX 580s*

AMD: F*** NEED MORE POWA!!!!!!!!

If you guys remember when the first pictures of the 6990 emerged it had a 8-pin and a 6-pin connector, so that dual 8-pin is surprising. Maybe to allow for better overclocking?

ONE DVI connector??? how can this be??
not that i'm going to buy one, but what about people with dual monitor setups who dont have DP/HDMI inputs?

on the other hand...those are only a small segment out of a smaller segment of people who are going to get this card.

Well I'm sure it will come with the necessary adapters like the 5870E6. Even if it doesn't, I'm sure someone who buys this card can afford them.

Also, this card is going on my "Best looking Cards" list. :D

I bet this will be like the 5970, two fully functional chips downclocked to meet the 300 watt limit, but marketed as 'built to overclock'. That's probably why we see the two eight pin connectors.

And to work reliably without blowing up will need a full cover waterblock to keep the VRMs below nine thousand degrees Centigrade!

If the VRM's getting up to 9000C on air, I think you'll need more than a typical water block. ;) We'll have nuclear power plant style cooling towers in our back yards to run Crossfire on a card.
