Don't take offense to the bastardized quote. At the time I was raw and ready, locked, cocked and ready to rock as were most of us.
beautifully written 🙂
deepest gratitude and respect to all the veterans who have protected out country

Yes, but I did have an E5 who occupied the actual position called FO. I can't remember what the real job title was for the 2LT FO was though. I just remember that it was called the FO spot. How much time did you spend calling in rounds overlooking Signal Mountain in Ft. Sill? I always wanted to blow up the block house, but I'm sure everyone else who attended FO training at Ft. Sill did too.
I rarely had an Officer on my track. When I did, he acted mostly as a Battalion Liaison and helped pre plan operations. I was an FO as an E1 to E5 and served as a Fire Support Sergeant (E6 slot) as an E5. The FSS had 3 FOs, 3 RTOs and a driver.Originally posted by: jemcam

Actually, if you get down to it, I also was a Unit Clerk and a HCO in FDC prior to OCS.

I spent 2 years at Ft Sill and 2 years in Hanau, FRG.

Now that you mention it, I believe the E5 was my RTO and I was the FO. We must have had a completely different TO&E than you did.
