My bonus was .0084% of my annual pay, and I was not complaining about it! Didn't really expect it, but they gave it to all of the non-supervisor senior employees.

Since we pay the OP's annual bonus when we pay our AT&T bills, he really shouldn't expect any sympathy from us...
Why not? It's not like your rates are going to drop at all.

WAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH, cry a little more because your big bonus got cut down to just a pretty big bonus.

My bonus, options, wage, etc., are all part of my compensation agreement. It's a whole package. This is no different than cutting my salary. IMHO.

But why do you think they make part of your compensation a bonus? So it can be variable.

I'm sorry that you lost part of your bonus, that really does suck. But you shouldn't count on money that isn't guaranteed.

pppft at least you get a bonus. One year I got a bottle of maple syrup. Other years have included NOTHING or a jar of mixed nuts.

Do 3% less work.

That would be cheating the company. His compensation went from 115% to 112%, only a 2.61% decrease, so he should do 2.61% less work 😉

Nope, but as everyone here bitches about union labor, increased compensation (including wages, benefits and bonuses) means higher costs, which they in turn pass along to the customers...

I'm sure the millions of people who don't get any kind of end-of-the-year bonus feel your pain...

Yea, but if they were given a 15% bonus when hired and three months before payout were told it was reduced to 12%, how do you thing they would feel?

Haven't you ever seen Christmas Vacation? I've got a new pool to pay for!

That is an awesome movie...maybe you should get your cousin eddy to go find your boss and put a big red bow on his head. 😀

My 'bonus' last year was a $25 gift card (taxed as income on our check) to Walmart. This year my company also cut back... this year we got a choice of a box containing 8 assorted Fannie May chocolates or a plastic bag of powdered cookie dough and chocolate chips... just add milk and egg then bake. I wish my bonus was 15% cut to 12%.

And now, proudly presenting, playing on this period "." is an entire orchestra of the world's tiniest violins.

Biggest bonus I ever got was less than 0.5%, during the one time that the Walmart I worked at had a sufficiently profitable year. The trickle down economy....heh, they call us peons for a reason, cause it sure ain't money that trickles down onto us.

It sounds like polm and other employees in his division are used to this sort of annual bonus as a part of their compensation package. I'm sure the company mentioned the annual bonus as a part of their compensation package when he hired on.

The company I work for tried to use their bonus (called VPP for variable payment plan I think) as an attractive feature of their offer. Many of my peers love bonus time. Personally, I don't count on ever receiving a bonus because if metrics aren't met, we won't get anything. This year was one of the worst on record for my site, so I doubt I'll be seeing any bonus. Besides, like another poster stated, a bonus system is the way for the company to pay their employees more on an annual basis without giving them a larger annual salary. When they give out raises this year, they can give us a larger raise percentage without giving us a larger absolute raise.

Working for T for the past 10 years, I've never seen anything over 10%, more like closer to 5%. I'm guessing we are dragging down the rest of the new company.

At least you get a bonus. Shit.

Compensation is more than just a paycheck. It's benefits, bonus, etc.

and bonus is just that, a bonus that you can't expect every time. most of the banking people probably won't get a bonus this year due to the mortgage fiasco.

sure, benefits is part of your compensation... but did they put it in writing that you will get a bonus every year?

My idiot company keeps giving out AMC movie theater gift cards the last few years. When they know my sister works for Harkins' corporate office. I could go anytime for free, but I wouldn't go to a movie theater if there was free pussy & beer. I throw them away.
