Happy Holidays! Your bonus is cut...

Just a little rant session; My company decided to make our stockings lighter this year.

Bonus cut from 15% to 12%. Welcome to the new AT&T. :|

Are there any performance criteria which must be met in order to qualify for a bonus? Or is it automatic?

The salary percentage is set, but the company decides how much of that you will get. So at the end of the years they will come up with some reason to justify a 75% - 150% payout.

The final percentage is based on the company's "numbers" at end-of-year.

I'm sure the millions of people who don't get any kind of end-of-the-year bonus feel your pain...

Yea, but if they were given a 15% bonus when hired and three months before payout were told it was reduced to 12%, how do you thing they would feel?

Haven't you ever seen Christmas Vacation? I've got a new pool to pay for!

WAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH, cry a little more because your big bonus got cut down to just a pretty big bonus.

This post reeks of self-entitlement syndrome, are you young? It seems to plague the younger generations more.

I don't get a Christmas bonus. Be happy you get anything.

I believe it's actually -3/100 ... Either way, sorry OP but no sympathy. Be grateful that you're receiving a bonus, whether it's 1,2,3 or even 5%.

My bonus, options, wage, etc., are all part of my compensation agreement. It's a whole package. This is no different than cutting my salary. IMHO.

One company-wide number for everyone? That's not bad at all.

My bonus is based 40% for company financial targets, 30% for division targets, and 30% for my personal targets. My boss decides how much of my personal 30% I get. And if the company doesn't meet financial targets (the 40% number), no one gets anything. It's a great motivator for getting people to work together to ensure the company targets are met.

If I got a 12% bonus, that would be the largest bonus I ever got. I'm trying to work up some sympathy but it's pretty tough.

 agreed.

Yup, you're being a big cry baby. It's called bonus for a reason. Bonuses are rarely the same percentage every year.

Speaking of which, I received my bonus today but it's really, really bad. But oh well, at least I wasn't dependig on it. I'll probably just pay off credit cards bills anyways since I've been doing so much shopping.

Haha. I work in HR alongside the compensation dept. You're damn sure I understand it better than most people here.
