Happy Guy Fawkes Night.

I miss the bonfires during Guy Fawkes night from when I was stationed in England. Good times.

Cheri o mutha fucka

Kind of on topic.....

Is V for Vendetta mostly responsible for making Guy Fawke's memory so popular in the last few years? Or just the white mask? Certainly the latter....

I don't think it's made guy fawkes any more popular over here... Maybe elsewhere.

Right. Sorry, I meant in the US. I see that Fawkes white mask @ every single American protest. I mean, tomorrow is apparently used as an event for OWS (switch your bank from too big to fail). Obviously relating to him.

Is Fawkes still quite popular across the pond? Not necessarily positively, but, yeah.

Is it Guy Fawkes Night already? Seems like just last week it was Halloween. How time flies.

Do your stores have big Guy Fawkes sales?

Do they let you have fireworks? Or do you just go somewhere to watch?

The county I lived in up until a few months ago completely banned fireworks. Feelsbadman.

No one really knew who he was until V for Vendetta came out.

Of course, the whole thing now is pretty stupid being used as an symbol of anarchists or anti-capitalists. Unless I'm mistaken, he was essentially a pro-Catholic terrorist and the celebration was originally a celebration of his crew being defeated.

Oh well, I guess I can't hate. We've turned Columbus Day and Thanksgiving into shopping days. Of course, I guess every holiday is a shopping day now.

Hey, its the day after Thanksgiving.

But yeah, we might as well change Presidents' Day to Buy A Car Day. Then we'll have to change every 3rd Saturday to Furniture Store Going Out Of Business And Everything, We Mean Everything, Needs To Go Liquidation Sale Day.

Actually, that bank switching day coming up, what if the banks do a You Can't Do A Bank Run Because We've Decided To Take A Day Off Day?

Really, the next step seems to be corporate holidays. National Budweiser Day. This 3 day weekend brought to you by Wal-Mart. I actually would be curious if there was a national holiday via corporate sponsor, especially a beer one, if it would actually lead to increased sales for them (and say discounted beer to help fuel it)?
