Don't you mean free health care? This legislature allows my mom to get insurance since she has "previous-medical-conditions"
Not likely. Prior to employer provided health insurance and Medicare doctors' services were beyond the financial reach of most Americans. There is no reason to believe that in the absence of socialized medicine that medical care would not again become a perk of being rich.If Lawyers and Insurance Companies, and Government weren't involved, your Mom could probably find a Doctor that would help her for a fair price.

serious question:
Obama kept saying the whole point of this was the millions of people who don't have health insurance.
But he exempted 2.5 million people from this.
So do those 2.5 million people not need health insurance? Why/how are they special?
considering my premiums have increased 42% since this bill was mentioned... and continue to increase. I would have to say I am not a big fan of the bill.... oh, but I did get my lifetime benefit cap removed. I guess when I can't afford my premium anymore this bill might be a good thing?
Here's a big one for you...Really! Republicans had no hand in that?
You can thank republicans for any failure of this so called "Obama care".
Healthcare reform could have been done right. But sadly republicans had enough power to make sure that would never happen.
So NOW you blame Obama?
I think you've been Fauxed Newsed a bit (to say the least). Ah, the progressive blame game. We're uber smart, you're all dumb and when we get something all fucked up, it sure as shit wasn't us that's responsible, so it must be the Republicans.
For one thing, because of republican objections, much of the reform will not go into effect until 2014. Link please?
For another, a lot of people can now insure their adult children by adding the lazy slackers to mommy and daddy's healthcare plan.
And another plus you overlook, as we approach tax time, a large number of businesses that began offering healthcare to employees will now be able to take advantage of tax breaks for doing so. You mean they get to spend a lot to save a little? Yeah!!
It's called a win-win situation... Only in lib land...
Employees get healthcare from employers, and employers get a tax break to offset that cost. The multitude of healthy small businesses are really looking forward to increasing their costs. They're hoping to be able to pass it on to the consumer, but the economy isn't real healthy right now what with gasoline and food costs going through the roof, but hey, it's all good, right?
The best is yet to come... HaPpY BiRtHdAy HeAlThCaRe ReFoRm
(despite republicans attempts so kill it, then allow the insurance companies to rule the day)
Good point. Although I don't like Obamacare there are good things about it, and whatever is proposed to replace it needs to address those points. This legislature allows my mom to get insurance since she has "previous-medical-conditions"
Maybe you could compromise and she could start training nurses. Lots of demand for that on the Internet, and she can probably use a lot of the same crops . . .All I notice is a I pay about $250 more a month for family of 5.
I wish my wife would go back to nursing just for the insurance rather than train horses.
It's going to raise everyone's rates. However there is something to be said for providing a means for people to afford health insurance even knowing that our rates will go up. That's a good thing, even if it's wrapped in 2400 pages of government-issue bullshit.it raised my rates
The problem is that raising rates makes things less affordable rather than more affordable. The people who couldn't afford it before surely can't now. Some of the people who could afford it before can't now. Add in the fact that people with pre-existing conditions are now guaranteed insurance (but not at a reasonable rate) and you have a lot of people being thrown under the bus. It's going to raise everyone's rates. However there is something to be said for providing a means for people to afford health insurance even knowing that our rates will go up. That's a good thing, even if it's wrapped in 2400 pages of government-issue bullshit.

I'm glad you feel that way. Feel free to go out and buy insurance for somebody if you want. Explain to me why it's good for me to have to pay for somebody else insurance? If i wanted to do that I'd do it.
And yes I know I'm a heartless sob.
aren't we already doing that with our state and federal taxes? Why do I need to pay again and again and again?
