Handstand

How many of you out there can do a handstand? How about handstand push-ups? I've been practicing the handstand against a wall for the past month and am now able to keep myself in the position without the wall for a good 5-7 seconds. Not strong enough yet. As for hand stand pushups, I can do 4 before my arms give way. I'm also trying to get stronger so that I can do muscle ups.

Anybody have experience with this?

yes and yes. but has to be against wall. have absolutely no balance to do them unsupported.

I can do free-standing handstands and I'm relatively sure I could do a free-stands handstand pushup. It takes a lot of practice, but you learn how to move on your hands. Once you're there, you just have to keep everything tight and do a normal handstand pushup. I actually just PR'ed the other day and got 14 HSPU in a row.

Yes to both but only against wall. I heard it responds well to grease-the-groove approaches where you just do a couple every chance you get throughout the day.

Yeah, very much so. We don't do a whole lot of movements in day-to-day life that simulate the HSPU. I did some GTG on and off and it improved my endurance with them a bit.

I can do one slow, controlled, muscle up HSPU from a cross-legged sitting position; but I'm spent after that. Have C6&7 degenerative discs which put pressure on my nerves when doing HSPU's so not sure how many wall or freestanding could otherwise do.
