WOW the Scrabble with the iPhone client app will be FUCKING KILLER! for anyone who doesn't watch the Twit review, basically you have an iPad which has the Scrabble board, and iPhones/Touches have a client where your tiles show up on your iPhone and nobody playing with you can see your tiles. Holy shit I gotta get this, I love Scrabble and this is too cool. The reviewer said this client app technology will be seen in other games/programs in the future.

I watched the review, and now I really want one, it does so much cool shit.

Speaking of that...

That's what I thought.

Makes me think of Four Swords Adventures, but GameCubes and GBAs were never that expensive, and it was an actual video game and not just a board game.

There will be other things that take advantage of it, and I don't know about you, but I can name three friends that have an iPhone or iPod Touch, and I have one, so for us, it would just require that one of us get an iPad (which is the trickier proposition, we all have laptops)

So is the only place to buy this is at the apple store? Will stores start stocking it like they do Ipods later on? (Like best buys, targets, amazon.com)

Each Best Buy will have 15 tomorrow I heard. Your best bet to get one is an Apple Store, but Amazon will have them as well most everyone else.

I really love the doubters...

What gets me is that the younger posters who should be embracing this kind of fundamental change, aren't.

Sigh...

Cue the but it doesn't have X bitching.....

Do you-all really imagine 5-10 years from now that anyone wont have a tablet computer?

Honestly, I could give a rats ass about who builds it or what OS it has, Id be as happy with an Android or a Chrome tablet, its the fucking future of tech, the world changes, and those who resist are swept into the dustbin of morons...

I actually remember the first widely available calculator, and how people responded to it.

What will I do with one of those?

Sigh....

We're looking at now, now. What happened to then? We missed it. When? Just now. When will then be now? Soon!

I'm not resisting tech changes but I'm not gonna go crazy with love given all its limitations and high cost. Get back to me in 5-10 years and I might be interested. I like my ipod touch a lot, though I really regret buying it as I doubt I'll use it as much as I thought I would. I also bought one in its 3rd generation. I refuse to buy an iphone though because the costs are rather high to use it, your apps are at the mercy of Apple and having a cell phone with no easily replaceable battery is just flat out insane.

LOL funny, I already have an iPhone and an Touch, and most people I know have one or the other. Since I'm sure a lot of games will take advantage of this technology I see this being awesome sauce in the future. Scrabble's just the first to showcase it, it will get better and more interesting. And the cool part is if I get an iPad I know about 30 people who have an iPhone/Touch. So getting a 4 player game like this going would be a breeze. I watched the TWiT hands on with it which is about 2 hours long. Before seeing that I thought it was cool but that was all, now I'm figuring out where I'll get the $$$ to be able to afford it.

Yeah, it would be great for HS students, but beyond that, sort of overkill.

If you have a 3G iPad, you can watch a movie anywhere. You wouldn't sit on your couch watching a movie on one of these, but you would when you're waiting for your car to be serviced or whatever.

My service station has a big screen in the waiting room. Only drawback.. you have to really be into Sponge Bob Square Pants. Thats all they play. And i doubt my little iPad would compete, without sound canceling earbuds. But then I couldn't hear when my car is ready. Such is life...

My daughter is using a 1st gen iPhone and the battery is still going strong...

Repair shops slap a new one in for less than you would think.

Took me about 45 seconds to find this on Craigslist

IPHONE 3G OEM BATTERY REPLACE ONLY $40(total cost).

how often does that ever happen? In the past 10 yrs of cell phone use, I've never had that happen to me, nor anyone I know. Mainly because NO one carries a spare to begin with.

The non-replaceable battery is an interesting issue, I've always not entirely liked it because my first gen ipod mini and nano suffer terribly, and it's not easy to swap (ok, not as easy as pop in/out). But they are indeed small. And as battery technology improves, I see it as being more of a non-issue. So long as you can still service the battery reasonably (either in store or something). Anyone know if the new nano's are serviceable?

My iphone is dead every single night when I come home. At 5pm I have no battery life. My co-worker (dean of business) has a blackberry. She has a spare battery in her office. There have been times when my phone is dead, and she just swaps batteries. I however laugh at her when her phone hits 15% battery and shuts off the radio (The most important part of the phone, the phone part).

What keeps you from getting an expandable battery pack thing...the form factor?

err.. whoops, I read your post before as dead dead, as in battery no longer functions.

yeah, for heavy users it's a pain. But if that's a concern... don't buy a phone w/o a removable battery =) Or get an extended pack, or desk charger? Car charger?

So, Amazon.com isn't selling the Ipad, and google turns up nothing saying if they will any time soon. Anyone hear anything, if amazon will sell it in the next few weeks? I'd rather buy from them to avoid paying tax

I don't think anyone doubted that the iPad would be successful, but that doesn't change the fact that it's lacking in ways that make it unattractive to the type of people who post here.

You seem to care waaaaaaaaaay too much about the iPad.

Um did you even bother to read my post before calling me a fan boy...

Seriously, please re read it, carefully, especially the part prefaced with rats ass...

Were it a Google product, Id likely have bought 2.

Seriously, the Google guys always pride themselves with being the smartest guys in the room, why didn't they develop a tablet & take it to market & beat Apple?

The thing is, Ive wanted a tablet PC forever, the fact that Apple brought a decent one to market first is only a coincidence.

I snagged a mouse when it was available, I ran (or tried to run) Windows 286, I love tech, always have.

My gadget tally

HTPC running W7 using a projector

17 inch Dell notebook

Dell Mini 9 seriously modded (and a distaste for netbooks, its going on eBay)

A couple of Windows Mobile phones, 3 Android phones, a BB the WM phones and Android phones set up to tether...

And an iPad
