The Sig Pro is the 'cheaper' version of Sig Sauer (note how the 226 is $300 more). I used to carry a 2022 in .357Sig and I like my Glock better.

Have you looked at a Springfield XD? I have heard nothing but good about them.

Go with whatever feels best in your hand...both are quality firearms. I personally prefer the S&W M&P 40...

I really like the 2022. The trigger on the ones I've experienced have been great, especially compared to the S&W M&P, and I've owned an M&P. Looking at your link, the sig has nightsites, which is worth 50-100 bucks. Is that important to you though? If you're just range shooting during the day, the white contrast sights for the M&P would be better.

EDIT: M&P should have cheaper magazines, there is an influx of them from the 2 free magazines promotion from S&W.

I agree about the trigger - it is very, very smooth.

Hold them in your hand. I'd also suggest holding a Glock, as well as a Springfield XD. I own an XD40 and love it. I'm considering a 9mm soon for another range toy.

(XD does not have the same grip angle as a Glock, very different feel)

Servicing an XD is a royal PITA. If you like those two guns in your OP, stay focused on those.

Try a Glock. I have a Glock 22 and fits my hand very well. Liked it better than the Sig or S&W.

The Sig Pro line is their polymer models. Wouldn't say it's a "cheaper" line in materials.

If anything, they are superior to their current Sig line. Since the US CEO moved in, their quality is really hit or miss. I won't touch Sigs any more unless they are original W German imports, or are Sig Pros.

The Sig Pro in the OP is a lot more gun for the money than the S&W. Sig has night sights and should include 3 mags instead of 2.

What's the PITA? Please elaborate.

Simple take down for field strip is incredibly easy, and honestly I've never heard the complaint of XDs being a PITA for service. I HAVE heard that if you've chosen a shop to install aftermarket sights, if they don't have the proper tools it can be difficult for them on an XD. I've heard nothing but great things about Springfield's customer service as well.

What the fuck are you talking about Jojo? Yeah, the three move field strip is REALLY difficult. I have an XDM 40 cal....one awesome gun.

I believe he is referring to the fact that you can't get parts for them. While Springfield will fix it, Shipping a hand gun back for a $2 part is a royal pain in the ass. (one of the reasons I went to Glock from my 3 XD's).
I looked long and hard at the Sig 2022 but decided against it as I was unsure of how available extra mags would be. But it did feel good and has a very nice trigger.

The M&P personally isn't very good. It's not comfortable to me, doesn't seem well balanced and is uglier than sin. Now, my S&W SW99 is great.

Get a used P226, I found one on gunbroker for $500 + shipping + transfer. Ended up at $550, for a gun @ 99%

FNP9. Or 40 or 45. Really. They are some of the best handguns and FN probably has the best CS in the industry.

Out of those two, get the Sig.

I have the S&W M&P in .40 cal and love it. That said, Sigs are good guns, I've just never had or shot one.

Sorry. Let me clarify. GETTING service parts is the PITA. My bad.

Yeah, I came in to recommend the FNP9 as well. I still haven't shot one yet but I managed to get a feel for it on Friday. Feels very nice in my hand and all around was just a nice gun. I'm def getting one once I have the funds!

Sig would be my choice. They are delivering 250,000 of those pistols to a French police. It is safe to assume then that it is a good design.

I own two handguns. Although neither is made by the companies that the OP has interest in, I too have been giving advice on the Internet for years as if I know what I'm talking about. Thus, I feel that I should chime in with this posting.

I have large hands. I like my Glock.

Sometimes I dump thousands of 9mm rounds onto my bedroom floor. I get nekkid, and I roll around in that pile of brass and copper jacketed lead. It feels nice. It feels like... the Second Amendment. It feels like America!

Pew-pew. Pew-pew-pew.
