Hamachi

Azeroth, check out Tunngle. I've been using hamachi for a while, just switched over to tunngle. Slightly harder to setup (PM me if you need help) but its amazing and works great.
 
There could be a ping (request/echo) filter on the machine you are checking ping from. Check the firewall/filters on this box.
 
What ended up being the issue?

ps, you should still check out tunngle. trust me its much better for gaming 🙂
 
What's it like for file sharing?

I used to use Hamachi for Starcraft & a little file sharing, but I see now you have to pay for a version that does sharing (beyond the 14day trial anyway).

The 14 day trail is for corporate use. You can share all you want... just make sure sharing is enabled on windows and you can access the other computer via \\IPADDRESS.
