Didn't Michael Jackson sell the most copies of any album ever? Quantity isn't quality. The fact that you can't even spell Deus Ex right means that you couldn't have played it for too long. What did you not like about it?
FYI, I spelled the name wrong on purpose just because I thought it was pretty cool to do so. Sorta like when people make fun of macs or microsoft, etc.
For one, since you're a PC/graphics/leet fanboy, Halo (CE&2) graphics > Deus Ex's
The cutscenes sucked and the game was as boring as err umm watching grass grow.
And don't even argue Halo was repetitive, DE was much worse
So you have never played multiplayer? Then w(hy)th are you even arguing against Halo at all?Originally posted by: HamburgerBoy.
I've played Halo three times. The first time I quit at The Library, the second time I quit at the snowy area where you blow up the generators, and the third time I beat it. I've also played quite a few FPSs, and not all of them were generic ones like Halo.
Halo's multiplayer is one of the best experiences out there, up with CS.
Special about it? The multiplayer is pretty intense/original/unique/fun/big/etc.Originally posted by: HamburgerBoy
You're right, there is very little that is special about FEAR. However, it is still a fun game to play. Just because a game isn't 100% orginal doesn't mean that it sucks. What is special about Halo, aside from how they managed to ruin the gaming industry?
Sure there are pistols and shotguns in other games, but what do you expect? The game is based off of real-life, there are going to be similar weapons in most games.Originally posted by: HamburgerBoy
Haha, what's so original about Halo's weapons? They have a pistol (original? shens), an assault rifle (original? shens), a wimpy shotgun (original? shens), a fusion pistol (that was stolen from Marathon), a rocket launcher (that was stolen from Marathon), a plasma rifle (which is ok), and the needler (which is quite awesome). Ignoring the grenades those are the only ones I remember, but correct me if I'm wrong.
In face, it is better that they used common weapons, rather than making up stupid fantasy weapons, makes the game more personal.
I can't say I've ever seen sticky grenades before in a game.
And you forgot the Carbine, which is original, as is the covenant sniper.
Halo has no more skill than other games? Well, as you said, you've never played multiplayer so you would have no idea, I understand.Originally posted by: HamburgerBoy
wtf are you talking about? Halo has no more skill than the generic PC shooter. It's just Mountain Dew induced twitching. Since when is "smacktalking" a console trait, and since when is it positive? "ur a mexican jew lizard" isn't really that funny.
You see, in Halo, you actually have to communicate. The fact that communicator headsets come with your XBL subscription, almost 100% of people playing Halo have them. You have to call out enemy positions, strategize, etc.
In a game like BF2, no one talks. If someone is talking, they are just talking about how there dog just tried to hump the couch or something of that manner.
To be good at halo, you have to be able to 4-shot enemies with the BR, be well equipt with the lower-powered weapons, have decent sniping skill (1 headshot kill, 2 bodyshot, unlike most generic 1 shot anywhere kill shooters), have nice placement with grenades (stickies), etc
and as a team, you have to work together, control the map, cover each other's blindsides, etc, etc.
CS is the only game that comes close, but only really in leagues and stuff - but this is all the time in Halo
I reccomend that you plug in your Xbox, get a 2-month free trial, and play some Halo 2 on Live, as you obviously don't know what you're talking about.
1: deus ex has a story halo can't touch with a 100 ft pole. not to mention the RPG elements which allow you to customize your play style. gameplay >> graphics.
2: halo is repetitive: library, assault on control room, taking down the generators, and going on the Truth and Reconciliation two times (different enemies 2nd time, oooooo).
3. UT2k4 >>> halo multiplayer... onsalught/assault and custom maps, nuff said.
4. covenant carbine = semi auto rifle, nothing special. coveant sniper = energy rifle vs. big-ass bullet, nothing special. sticky grenades? i'll give a little there. battle rifle? please show me another rifle that is absolutely precise and accurate on continual 3shot burst and i'll give you a
5. halo MP takes skill. but so does quake MP, FEAR MP, and any other MP game. in FEAR which would you rather have: time distortion and everyone knowing your location, or being unknown on the map like any other game?
to be good at any FPS you need aiming skills, plain and simple. this is nothing new, as aiming has been around long before halo (who would have thought?)
halo is just another FPS, and a very popular one for various reasons. it's nothing new to PC gamers, better FPS's have been around for much longer. so don't think halo2 is the be all and end all, especially with THAT ending.
