I was one of the winners that had Halo 2 in French a good month before it came out, and got his copy on release day right when Target opened instead of waiting in the freezing cold :p

Compared to the Halo 2 trailer, which literally had me drooling, this one sucks. I got absolutely nothing from it, Cortana came off as a freakin apparition; at least the Halo 2 trailer hinted the Covenant were coming to Earth.

so maybe i'll have to wait for the PC version, but thats better than buying an x360 for one damned game. me, im getting a PS3. i can handle $500 since it has the blu-ray and because of my refusal to wait and thus will be an early adopter of both the blu-ray and the ps3 itself.

You need to buy the 600 dollar one for BluRay. The 500 dollar one doesnt have HDMI.

I can see alot of pissed off people buying the 500 dollar one thinking it will support 1080p Bluray.

FEAR destroyed Halo in my opinion. halo was typical console-fare, still couldn't touch the first Perfect Dark in terms of singleplayer though. multiplayer still couldn't touch Goldeneye. :D

There are quite a few games better than FEAR but you're right, it is much better than Halo.

hdmi is a joke. screw that, i'll take component video and optical audio over HDMI, although HDMI might have SLIGHTLY better picture. or does component cabling not work with HD? i don't have HD equipment so never even researched that aspect.

Both HDDVD and Bluray over component video scale down to 960x540. Better than DVD, but not 1080.

If you are buying it for a BluRay player, why wouldnt you just wait to see what format comes out one top? The market adoption for these HD players are going to be very low unless they start offering other features. DVDs look great for most of the population.

UT2004, CS, and DOD are better. Online FTW!

I regularly play UT (used to), DOD, DOD:S and it doesn't have the same social atmosphere. However, I have not yet played them at a lan party so maybe it'll make a difference.

Social atmosphere? The only social online game I've ever played was Deus Ex and that game has horrible multiplayer. FPSs aren't meant to be social.

LOL worst games ever? That's why it's won countless awards and sold millions upon millions of copies?
Duex Es on the other hand,

I doubt you have really even played Halo. Everyone who has played it at least enjoyed it a little, it is completely RIDICULOUS to consider it one of the 'worst' games ever, which is why I'm doubting you know anything about shooters/games at all.

FEAR is the real joke because it is nothing special. It's the same guns/graphics/gameplay as every single other FPS on the computer. Any computer company could make a game (PC-only) with `decent` graphics (box items (see HL2/fear/etc)) that takes place in a mostly enclosed setting (FEAR, labratory, etc) and people would jump on it like it's the best thing since sliced bread.
In FEAR, HL2, CoD2, etc, it's pretty much just SMG that bad guy or alien, SMG some more.. pick up a new type of SMG (WITH A FREAKIN' GRENADE SHOOTER THOUGH) and then kill some more. Walk around the corner shoot another person, etc, etc.
But somehow people think that this is awesome?

And plus, multiplayer on console > on PC. On PC it's constantly the same thing. Join a server with 32 people. Run around like an idiot and then SMG someone and hope you get first shot.
If you've ever played Halo 2 on XBL, you'd know that this is not the case. The variety of weapons is ranged and unique, the gameplay actually takes SKILL & thought, there are rankings, you can smacktalk people, etc, etc. If you need more just ask.

You may think it isn't meant to be social but as with Golden Eye, Perfect Dark and Halo, they have shown it can be done and done well.

Well Halo must be a fluke then because if you got 4 people in your room getting drunk, plus 4 people in the dorm room next to you doing the same and you are going at each other it does get pretty social. Of course you can hole up in your room and play a game that probably has more features and looks better and talk to bigkilla004 through your keyboard, but that will never touch the enjoyment you can get of having a big party with everyone yelling and hollaring and blowing each other to pieces.

Didn't Michael Jackson sell the most copies of any album ever? Quantity isn't quality. The fact that you can't even spell Deus Ex right means that you couldn't have played it for too long. What did you not like about it?

I've played Halo three times. The first time I quit at The Library, the second time I quit at the snowy area where you blow up the generators, and the third time I beat it. I've also played quite a few FPSs, and not all of them were generic ones like Halo.

You're right, there is very little that is special about FEAR. However, it is still a fun game to play. Just because a game isn't 100% orginal doesn't mean that it sucks. What is special about Halo, aside from how they managed to ruin the gaming industry?

Haha, what's so original about Halo's weapons? They have a pistol (original? shens), an assault rifle (original? shens), a wimpy shotgun (original? shens), a fusion pistol (that was stolen from Marathon), a rocket launcher (that was stolen from Marathon), a plasma rifle (which is ok), and the needler (which is quite awesome). Ignoring the grenades those are the only ones I remember, but correct me if I'm wrong.

wtf are you talking about? Halo has no more skill than the generic PC shooter. It's just Mountain Dew induced twitching. Since when is "smacktalking" a console trait, and since when is it positive? "ur a mexican jew lizard" isn't really that funny.

A bunch of fat slobs shouting every time they die or kill something isn't my idea of social. I'll take online gaming with no one else in the room any day, kthx.

Halo 1, had good multiplayer. About as good as it gets on the xbox. Bungie/MS took the best xbox FPS and **S*VCK*ED it silly to create the runny puddle of fecal matter Halo 2 was. We'll see if they can redeem the franchise for H3.

Meh, if the only friends that you can get to play with you are a bunch of fat slobs, then I can't blame you.

Methinks you just don't have many friends to play it with. How did Halo ruin the gaming industry? By making a party game that the masses love? If you are playing Halo in single player then yes, I'm sure it does suck. But I would guess that 75% or more of the people that play Halo have never played it in single player. It is meant to be a party game, have a party one day and find out lol.

Friends to play games with are overrated. I'll take an anonymous guy on the internet any day when it comes to computer games.

They ruined the gaming industry by popularizing it and making it mainstream. Before Halo, there were many more hardcore gamers playing and the developers worked more on gameplay than graphics. You said it yourself, they turned the FPS into a party genre and it's pathetic.

Ignoring the whole child-molester trial (in which he was found innocent) and w/e other personal problems you have (with him?), you should be able to admit that Michael Jackson was a great artist. His songs were hits and he is probably one of the best dancers of all time.
FYI, I spelled the name wrong on purpose just because I thought it was pretty cool to do so. Sorta like when people make fun of macs or microsoft, etc.

For one, since you're a PC/graphics/leet fanboy, Halo (CE&2) graphics > Deus Ex's
The cutscenes sucked and the game was as boring as err umm watching grass grow.
And don't even argue Halo was repetitive, DE was much worse

Halo's multiplayer is one of the best experiences out there, up with CS.

Special about it? The multiplayer is pretty intense/original/unique/fun/big/etc.

Sure there are pistols and shotguns in other games, but what do you expect? The game is based off of real-life, there are going to be similar weapons in most games.
In face, it is better that they used common weapons, rather than making up stupid fantasy weapons, makes the game more personal.
I can't say I've ever seen sticky grenades before in a game.
And you forgot the Carbine, which is original, as is the covenant sniper.

Halo has no more skill than other games? Well, as you said, you've never played multiplayer so you would have no idea, I understand.
You see, in Halo, you actually have to communicate. The fact that communicator headsets come with your XBL subscription, almost 100% of people playing Halo have them. You have to call out enemy positions, strategize, etc.
In a game like BF2, no one talks. If someone is talking, they are just talking about how there dog just tried to hump the couch or something of that manner.

To be good at halo, you have to be able to 4-shot enemies with the BR, be well equipt with the lower-powered weapons, have decent sniping skill (1 headshot kill, 2 bodyshot, unlike most generic 1 shot anywhere kill shooters), have nice placement with grenades (stickies), etc
and as a team, you have to work together, control the map, cover each other's blindsides, etc, etc.
CS is the only game that comes close, but only really in leagues and stuff - but this is all the time in Halo

I reccomend that you plug in your Xbox, get a 2-month free trial, and play some Halo 2 on Live, as you obviously don't know what you're talking about.

I guess those of you who swear by Halo have never played UT2004. Onslaught, Mutant, Invasion, Rail CTF.. if you want a game that requires communication, skill, speed, map knowledge, accuracy, and technique on multiple levels, then put down the paddle and pick up a copy of UT2004.
