i don't know much about halo, but i loved the bungie Myth series of games. that was way back then tho, before bungie was bought out by microsoft.

oh ya, Oni was pretty good to, not sure why that died out so quickly.

bungie was pretty unique and creative. myth series was never huge but it had some series fans, and the online myth was the best at the time.

HALO 3 WEEK ONE

Only right. Sucky overly-marketed music has been topping the sales charts for decades. Why not ruin video games with the same playbook?

No wonder Bungie bailed out.

With that many sales, we should start a console forum around here.

haha, gotta love the people who are "too hip" to like anything popular. Keep on stickin' it to the man, man!

300 million in sales and hundreds of thousands of people playing online isn't a fluke or "marketing hype". This is not a $12.99 CD or a $.99 Song, its a $60 purchase that most people don't make on whim.

Is Halo 3 basically like Halo 1 and Halo 2? I can't imagine what new gameplay elements this new Halo brings to the table that would make it so popular...

Edit: Be sure to stock up on rancid Game Fuel so you can play till you have a heart attack.

Its basically is Halo 1and 2.

It's the Halo name that sells it. The First one saved the Xbox, the second was pretty bad, but had good multiplayer. This one has good single player and great multiplayer.

Its nothing really special.

If you read the reviews, its nothing new, its just a good game. Though its overhyped to the extreme

Nah, I'll just buy Orange Box for my PC and get a much better single-player game and much, much, much better online game plus a puzzle game thrown in for good measure.

It's not that Halo is popular that makes it bad. It's that it's a completely average game overly inflated with bagillions of dollars in marketing.

As long as the suck does not stop making genuinely good games like HL2, Company of Heroes, and Bioshock it's fine with me.

Oh god another thread for the halo haters to crap in.

I'll sum up the groups of people who bash halo.

1)don't have an Xbox 360, have never played Halo, but still say it sucks.

2)Have played Halo, and was horrible at it, so therefore it sucks

3)Actually played and didn't like Halo. That means no one else can enjoy playing it, either. So they will post in every thread saying it sucks.

You have a couple million people out there that disagree.

Average single player so far but the multiplayer kicks ass. I have two HUGE complaints though..

1.fing motion tracker is on in mp games :|
2.I HATE THE STUPID MATCHMAKING :| I want to be able to browse a list of public games, not play the same old shit Bungie throws my direction.

see that whole argument is opinion based. But blaming marketing for $300 million in sales is stupid, the same with saying the "online is lame" when there are a million people who would disagree.

Marketing hype leads to a bunch of people going to see a crappy movie for $10 on a Friday night, that doesn't apply to a $60 game + $400 console investment + countless hours online. True, the marketing probably got the more casual gamer to remember the game, but for most people who own a 360, they knew about Halo and would buy Halo without a single commercial.

Maybe tens of millions of people LIKED her albums? Just because you don't like something doesn't mean no one else can. Get over yourself.

So you're saying they would have sold that many without media saturation and Master Chief Mountain Dew?

I like the matchmaking setup, but I wish there was also a way to search through custom (unranked) game lobbies.
