Didn't you get the memo? Vista is a horrible OS. The game was released only for Vista and by association is a horrible piece of software. My Uncle works with computers for a living and told me about all of the DRM they put in your files. He told me that Microsoft has a way of looking at your computer through the Internet and we all know how bad Microsoft is as a whole. I would never trust them especially if they can look at your hard drives. It's also slower and crashes a lot. Sounds like a lose lose situation all around.

So much garbage in one post, astonishing!

Garbage? I only speak truths!

I'm majoring in computer science and know quite a bit about computers outside of that. Vista has DRM, yes...but outside of that, almost everything about your post is just wrong. Sorry. I think you missed the memo of almost everyone else on these forums (unless you never venture into the OS section).

Either way, decent game, crappy port.

Shame you arent majoring on sarcasm detection.

If there's sarcasm there, I'm sorry that he's poor at making it apparent (especially over the internet).

It wasn't sarcasm. Honest!

Well, I did play through Halo and Halo 2, which Halo was much better, and I played both on the PC. Halo _did_ revolutionize the FPS genre with the ability to drive vehicles (at least thats what I remember as the first game that did it).. Other then that, nothing else really stands out about it.

The game came out on Vista only at a time when most people were on XP.

Most people are still using XP. We're in 2009 and Vista only has 35% market share link. 62% are using XP. Halo 2 came out in 2007.

LOL Halo 2...one of the most overhyped games ever.

Why didn't a mediocre (at best) console FPS do well on the PC?

The reasons are too numerous to list.

I dont think vista is that heavy of a program, if you lose 10% efficiency so what? I find it much easier to use than XP except the occasional compatibility issue. And I think its a good game for PC and i don't care what you say 😛.

Vista is a fine OS...it's just that people who never used it spread the ignorant FUD they read on some forum somewhere in the corner of the Internet.

I run Vista 64 at home, and it is a dream. Using XP is painful to me.

The only thing I really dislike is how Microsoft just changed random things in Vista just...for the sake of having changed something. For instance, there is no longer an "UP" button in Explorer that takes you up one level in the folder structure. You have to use the "breadcrumb" path.

Anyway, I digress...

I think it's still a good game, but the initial release really turned people off. Vista wasn't necessary for the "eye candy" the game offered.

I bought it and play it (single-player) on XP. There are some great looking levels, but the first level on the ship looked like crap.

Yeah, only thing i don't like about the game is idiots in multiplayer with like 500 ping and you cant hit them.

Yeah that bugs me too.
They seem to have a natural tendency to turn 3 step processes into 7 step processes.

Fair enough, i only know hes being sarcasic because of that pic with his 400 odd games hes got installed on vista.

If they had left coop in the PC version, I would have played the hell out of it. But they didn't, and Halo is pretty bad without coop.

I have no idea where that image came from. It's a plant. Someone else put it in there.
