...Oh...wow. Yeah, it already has it. What a noob.
No, it doesn't... Have you ever even played the game? You keep calling me a noob, but you don't even seem to know how the steering in the game works. Everyone else, even if they don't agree with me that the steering sucks, at least agrees that you don't directly control the steering wheel. You control the camera, and the vehicle follows (or tries to follow) the direction the camera is pointing.
Here are two experiments you can do to prove to yourself that you don't control the steering wheel directly:
1. Get in a warthog, point the camera to the left. Which way did the front wheels turn? Now pull back on the left analog stick. Which way did the front wheels turn? The answers are left and right respectively. Did you press right on the right analog stick? No. But the wheels turned to the right. So would you say you are controlling the steering wheel directly?
2. Get in a warthog, point the camera to the left. Push the left analog stick all the way forward. Which way did the wheels turn? Left, THEN RIGHT (after it fishtails). Did you push the right analog stick to the right? No. So would you say you are controlling the steering wheel directly?
I think it's the fishtailing and the lack of traction that annoy me the most. This thing handles like you're driving on ice. But controlling the steering wheel directly would be useful when trying to navigate around trees and obstacles.
Edit:
Consider the "sandbox" genre. They are all third person games, but when you're in a vehicle the perspective is the same - behind and above the vehicle. You're in a different environment of course, but it's more or less the same concept - there are people around you who want to kill you, and you want to kill them. Those games are controlled exactly like I WISH Halo was controlled. Can you honestly say you'd prefer Halo controls in those games? And if Halo controls are so great, why have none of the sandbox games implemented it? I may be a "n00b" (I've only been gaming for ~20 years... I'm such a noob
