The airboat chase against the helecopter was pretty intense. Also the other helecopter moment when that chopper starts dropping thousands of trip mines everywhere. I sooo want to use the grav gun on those things!

When we are first introduced to the crazy zombies in Ravenholm you know the jumping/flying/screaming ones. YIKES!!

Catfights between Alyx and the Dr. whatsherface.

Last level, walking through the Citadel with the über gravity gun: Gordon walks into a room with one of those vertical energy fields running. The Combine charges him from the opposing direction and you can use the gun from away to pull the Combine towards you and into the energy field where they sort of slowly float into the field and get zapped.

The first time you walk out in to City 17 was the most jaw dropping moment in my long gaming history. The flying cameras zapping your eyes, the Nazi-Like combine troops patrolling around, the interrogations, everything about City 17 was an awesome lead-in to the battles ahead. I also loved the scene where you were introduced to Dog and got to play catch :D

Agreed. Right at the beginning before anything happens, you walk passed a swing set and you get to push the swings around. The physics and lighting were jaw dropping. I felt like such a kid again.

Another one for me: THAT battle in the prison where you have to set up the remote guns. I had to play it at least a dozen times to beat all thos Combine.

My strategy for that was to get all three guns into one small room, creating an Alamo so-to-speak. As long as I shot away the grenades I was okay!

Maybe not so much my most memorable moment, but I remember LOL'ing when I ran out of ammo and resorted to throwing paint cans at the zombies and then watched them turn white :p

For me it was getting into the first 'casket ' in the last level and being transported into the energy beam. My gut said to get in the second, but I didn't think they'd be that tricky.

Also, getting the modded gravity gun which allows you to pick up people. then you suddenly realize that you are a forced to be reckoned with.

i dunno, i LOVED using the antlions for gun fodder. :p

Toss the phernomes into the turret machine guns and follow BEHIND them . . . .

But Dog was the most fun . . . i hope we see more of him (her?) in a further expansion pak or *gasp* Hl/3. ;)

The whole game was pretty good. Not a masterpiece but not the disaster Doom iii is.

Also, driving the boat was fun - unlike the buggy, it wouldn't flip and its control was eXcellent!

BEST of all - my MOST memorable moment - was getting $17 back on a retro-price match with Best Buy . . . .
final costs for HL2 was $38.48 plus Tax. :D

worth it

Yep. Walking around City 17 was great. The "1984" style was cool.

Using the computer console I ripped off the wall with the gravity gun to shield myself against the combine and strider in that long hallway in the citadel.

The first time you get to use the remote guns...mainly because after I got wasted after the 3rd time I went back through the level and gathered all the boxes and barrels I could and weapons laying around I barricaded the stairs stockpiled all the weapons in the middle of the floor. The combines could not come up the stairs and get to me or the guns and I just let the guns do thier thing. Seems like it took me forever to gather all that crap but it was worth it , cause after it was done I came out pretty much unscathed and had full ammo :)

the first time you use the crane...dropping those big containers on the combines coming out of the warehouse...Leathal Weapon 2 style :)

Hehe. I know what you mean. I started to get angry at the Combine soldiers for killing "my pretties." :)

can you actually hear that?

i KNOW what he is saying but there is sudden (intentional) noise at the exact same time . . . like a lot of old movies . . . .

have you tried the cheat (yourself) to hear it clearly?

Max Payne II has a LOT of the f-word.

Fighting the airship on the highway and coming out with 1 health :)

Watching the bullets under water was pretty cool, or how they pushed flaming barrels down onto me from above. Then I'd shoot them and have their bodies fall and splash next to me.

Watching Dog fight the Combine and jump onto the ship and punch it.

Cool game, I'm not sure how much I have left, but I'd play it again. I never did finish Doom III...

i haven't played all the way through the game yet, im think im a little under half way done, so far its the battle between you and your gunboat and the helicoptor.

the helicopter shoots, you shoot back, then it starts dropping mines, then crazy amounts of mines when it gets hurt some more, then u destroy it. the music pumped up the action as well.

iono why...but in the beginning there is this couple that was like "let it end...let it end" in their "peasant suits"

and at the end of the game...those SAME people...crying saying to let it end

that struck me the most...although i'm not sure why

Ditto, I had a blast throwing the containers around crushing the combine troops and then "playing" with the crane for a while.

Most memorable thing about HL2 for me was being fed line after line of BS about its release date. Honorable mention goes to it making people nauseous and to people somehow liking it better than Far Cry, that last one is pretty confusing.

The ending was the most memorable. Because the game was good until that point.

BRAVO!!!!!

This was a great game, but the ending is HORRENDOUS!

Yep.
Despite not liking the game too much, I was pretty excited to see how it would end, then once it did, I was like "WTF??? That's it?"
