Isn't it 75? Which is what tons of modern shooters use, or even smaller for that matter. It can be changed anyway, HL2 has plenty of console commands.

For the record, I do think 75 is too small as well, but unless your getting sick from playing other shooters I wouldn't think that's the reason.

Quite a few of my games, I run at 130 field of view.

I agree OP. Still one of my favorite gaming experiences ever, and if/when Ep3 comes out, I will eagerly start from scratch and do the whole thing again.

Just beat Ep2. Forgot how it ended, caught me off guard. Really excellent experience.

All of the games definitely felt a lot easier this time around, part of it was remembering some surprises, but part was also having played a lot more FPS since my first time through. Maybe whenever the next time is I'll turn it to Hard.

I can't help but feel Ep3 is either going to be much larger than Ep1 and Ep2 or it won't really be the end of this "arc" as we've been told. Either that or the scope of this 'arc' isn't as big as we think it is and Ep3 is going to resolve something, just not the big picture. Someday we'll know, and in the meantime more HL and fewer TF2 hats damnit.

I solved HF1 way back when. One of the few games I solved, and I loved it.

Playing through HF2 now. I'm not sure how much farther I have to go, but I expect not too far (just got over the bridge). I love the level layout, how real and large scale it is. The integration with vehicles is great. But at times I'm a tiny bit bored by the action. Then again, it is a 6 year old game and I might be just expecting more.

the HL games must have been a game to play at the time it came out. I didn't play them until years later and still have yet to figure out what the big deal was.

What made HL2 so impressive is the atmosphere. There was just something very special about the opening scene all the way through. I felt like I was apart of that subjugated populace. I really hope they update their engine and provide us with HL3 and just skip on EP3.

True. HL1 had the best most natural acting AI of any Game up to that point in time. I can't think of another game that had the cinematic opening perfectly setting the mood it had. Had a great story as well, something most games at the time lacked.

HL2 may not have had the same unique features compared to its' competitors the way HL1 did, but it carried the story further and stayed true to its' classic predecessor.

u have to remember what was out at the time. compare half-life to quake 2. HL was a revolutionary game. if u go back and play it now you'll be like whats the big deal, because every game has copied it by now

I've never played COD, but keep making those wild guesses.

I'll admit that I play more RPGs than FPS though. The only other FPS/TPS I've played in the last couple of years besides HL 1 are Crackdown, Ratchet & Clank, Dark Sector, Riddick and Quake 4.

Out of curiosity, what did you think of Quake4.

The original Half-Life did not even have a close relative in Single Player at it's release. Good game? Try revolutionary. It is hard for me to view the game from the perspective of someone playing it so late, but I'd like to think I'd still enjoy it.

It is no shock Half-Life was going to be good though. Like Blizzard hired directly from the community of Everquest, Valve hired directly from the Quake community, picking up some of the best and brightest modding talent, guys that were making the Quake engine sing.

130 FOV is very competitive, I see no reason to use that in a single player game though since once you hit ~120 you are warping the natural look of the world.

I always thought 110 was the nicest compromise.

I played the hell out of HL1 when it came out. I loved it, and it made me excited for HL2. HL2 came out and I was blown away. It's in my top 5 games of all time.

Both are good, but I certainly do not think that HL2 is the best PC game of all time.

its always fascinating how almost anything valve gets so popular, HL2 was good but certaintly wasnt as impulsive as the first and lacked variety in enemies.
