Isn't it 75? Which is what tons of modern shooters use, or even smaller for that matter. It can be changed anyway, HL2 has plenty of console commands.

For the record, I do think 75 is too small as well, but unless your getting sick from playing other shooters I wouldn't think that's the reason.

HL2 was the first game that made me feel sick.Stalker did this also and Crysis in 3 parts only.

Not a big FPS gamer anymore.

I love the amount of people in this thread who are clearly COD fans. "If it doesn't have explosions and scripted events every 15 seconds it is boring."

HL1 was great.

HL2 was great. I remember running it on a 1700+ Athlon XP with 512 megs of ram and a Geforce4MX card, and it still looked awesome.

However that was YEARS ago.

Earlier this year I tried to go back and play EP1....very dissapointed. I gave up after giving it 2 hours or so. I think the core was successfully disabled but still blew or something....something about being stuck in a shitty train as it fell down. Just not interesting at all. I have no idea of HL2 will bore me as well, or if it was just EP1.

Because people didn't care for HL2 makes them COD fans?

And even if, who cares?

EP1 may not have been great, but EP2 certainly was much better.

I tried to replay HL2 with the blue gravity gun. Makes it wayy to easy, but yet sorta fun. Sadly the game either bugged or something didn't activate right because I'm stuck outside the beach where the antlions are. I gave up at that point.

I love the first one, but never did play 2 that much. I don't know what it is, but huge underground facilities are just awesome! I need to finish 2 though, how long does it last with all the episodes?

I'll let you know how long it lasts when I finish. Been like five years of playing so far...

(No longer have much gaming time, lost my saves at one point and started over, now I'm in the scary zombie place and I don't like scary stuff so I play for like ten seconds at a time then turn it off and wait a month... :D )

Fun game though!

May I recommend Amnesia? That'd be your new favorite PC game. ():)

Cinematic Mod doesn't look too impressive. About halfway through their screenshots there's some 'comparison' shots and like 6 or 7 of the 8 I thought looked better (and more natural) in the original HL2. Gonna take a pass on it.

Ep1 when I first played it a few years ago was pretty buggy and it's still not completely worked out, it still has audio issues for me. Moving mouths with no sound, misplaced sound effects. It's not on the same level as HL2, but I still think it's worth playing if only to advance the story and see more of HL's world. The scenarios in it are still enjoyable, just not as polished.

Ep2 is much closer to the quality level of HL2 I'd say and I would highly recommend skipping to it for anyone who was put off by Ep1. It's dramatic and engaging without going over the top, and the final battle is tremendous. The dialog is a little kitschy as Alyx becomes more attached to Gordon but it's really kind of endearing. Plus you hear from Gman quite a bit, always good.

I still haven't bought/played Orange Box yet. Hell, I never did finish HL2, even though I agree it was great. I suppose I should quit loligaggin.

I've never played COD, but keep making those wild guesses.

I'll admit that I play more RPGs than FPS though. The only other FPS/TPS I've played in the last couple of years besides HL 1 are Crackdown, Ratchet & Clank, Dark Sector, Riddick and Quake 4.

HL2 was one of the best purchases I ever made. The game itself was awesome, and it also included Counterstrike : Source which I played hundreds of hours of!

I still need to play Ep2 though.

I've tried to slog through Half Life but I keep getting bored about an hour in.

Is it worth just jumping to HL2 then EP1,2 afterwards? Or is Half Life required to play/understand HL2?

If you're that bored with HL, then just skip and go to HL2. Sure, there is the back story and whatnot, but it's not like Freeman has a great character arc you need to follow.

Half-Life was clearly made without a sequel in mind, in my opinion. You can easily play HL2 without playing HL1. You only need to know the basics. Just read the plot on Wikipedia. You'll miss some of the subtle call-backs in HL2 but who cares?

Wow. Welcome to 2004 dude! Back when FPS games had a decent story and some actually lasted more than 12 hrs (imagine that?)

HL2 is one of the best FPS's ever made. / Thread.
