Absent minded or dumb? How about both? What kind of person forgets to remove the pump nozzle? I mean seriously. She heard it click off and decided her tank was full so she could drive off. That alone tells me she knew the nozzle was in the car. I mean unless she was at one of those experimental Shell stations that were built in the late 90's that had the robotic arm that used some sort of mapping program to know where your fuel door was, open it, take off the cap, fill the tank, put the cap back on, then close the fuel door.

I'm sorry....but driving off with the nozzle in the car is more than absent minded.

she has a 4.0 at western michigan and scored well over 1400 on SATs. stop being a jackass

10 times a day? That's a bit excessive. I have a hard time believing that 10 people a day would do such a thing at one station or that your Dad has to replace 10 nozzles a day. I mean unless his station is next to a mental asylum. I have relatives that own gas stations and truck stops and in my entire life I've only heard of it happening 2 or 3 times at their various locations.

read my preivous post and then you'll see what type of people forget to remove the pump nozzle

That said, most of those that forget it are males, seriously, sometimes i see people acting in such a hurry and i simply know they will do it... u gotta work in a gas station to see what i am saying...

btw, nozzles have a security clip at the end, which automatically disconnects it from the rest of the hose, so it's no big deal...

it's your choice to believe it or not... a city with 4 million people, 8 cars per minute, it's pretty understandable IMHO.

No.

GPA and SAT scores don't translate well into real world intelligence. Trust me, I know plenty of stupid smart people.

I agree that this incident does not mean she is dumb, but this is waay beyond absent minded.

And gas that pumps extremely quickly. Or people that fill up whose tanks are already 9/10 full.

and u r an idiot, i dont remember mentioning anything about lines, this is a central gas station, not self service, and people usually prefer getting in line instead of driving to the next gas station which is 4 miles away... well anyways, it happens, just trust me... you can't expect people to give full attention all the time....

isn't oregon just about the only place left where that could happen? bein' an east coast
kind of gal, oregon is really low on my list of places I'd want to live, but.. that not being allowed
to pump your own gas thing as opposed to the impossible to find someone to pump it for you practice round here does make it kind of attractive.

Jesus Harold Christ the Fifth, you guys act like you've never made a mistake.

I give her kudos for returning to the gas station. The vandalism thing is bull*feces* and can be fought.
