I use to be a delivery guy for papa johns. I averaged around $2.80-$3.50 a run. If someone gave me less than $2 I would remember them. Myself and the other pizza drivers would even tell a driver "that person does not tip" and we would get a HOT soda instead of one from the cooler, or open the pizza box and put it in front of the A/C vent in our car, etc...

If you think less than $2-3 dollars is a good tip, then get in your car and come get it. Is it worth 3 dollars to not have to get in your car and drive to the pizza place. No you say, then why do you think its ok to only give the pizza guy less than what you would want.

And to the person that said I am poor, then eat oddles and noodles, 6 for a Buck you CheapA_S. Again, if your that poor get in YOUR CAR and come get it.

I all the other pizza people I worked with, like myself, remember who does and who doesn't tip. Take a close look at your pizza, I think you just earned a FREE topping, its a new one, its not even on the menu :)

You're probably on their sh!tlist now. Your next pizza will be full of their saliva. Of course you won't taste it, but it's there.

I've gotten pizza there after that many times, no problems with it, but i usually just pick it up instead of deleivery, and i have a friend who works there so i'm not gonna get no extra creamy toppings if you know what i mean. But the city up above me, their domino's got closed down because their workers were all caught whacking it in the pizza. glad i never ate there.

If I don't have enough cash to give the guy a tip for going out of his way, I go and pick it up myself.

On a side note, one of the occasional substitutes at my school is a papa john's delivery guy, he is pretty cool, just not as cool as the time we had a bartender as our sub. (he was not at all inadequate, he was in school to become a teacher, and was able to help us with our assignment, which is more than mosts subs try or are able to do.)

Ok, being as I was a delivery driver, and currently will be going back to work there for summer, this post came to my attention. First off, if about your "paying with coins" thing, if we took the time to count out the change right then and there, it would cause us to lose runs, which in turn meant less money, which means that by him throwing it in his pocket and leaving, he knew you were a cheap ass and he just wanted to get back to the store to get a delivery for someone WHO'D ACTUALLY TIP.

Secondly, to all the people who've stated that we're paid to deliver them, we're not, we're paid to box the orders, prep them, clean the store and wash dishes, refill the make table, take orders and restock the freezers, the delivering the pizza to you is like only 10% of the job. The tips make up for the lack of pay, being as most drivers make less than minimum wage. Which means by your assuming they're paid to run their cars down just because you're a lazy fvck and then you precede to stiff them, you're the dumb one. What gives you the right to call someone who's WORKING for money dumb, just because it isn't a "high-paying, long term" job, doesn't give you the right.

So to sum this up, please take into consideration, if you've never worked a shiet job b4 that the people that do, work harder than you ever have.

My tip will is that they can keep the change, there is however a reason for it.

The company were I order my pizza's from is a deliver-only company, they deliver in company owned cars/scooters (they only deliver, they don't have to pack the stuff).
The fact that they only have to drive for 5 minutes to get to my house also helps.

It always amazes me that people would brag about their idiocy to the whole world like it's something to be proud off. Of course this was Stiler posting and I've come to expect that inane foolishness from him.

If NOBODY tipped, the only place you'd be able to eat would be
McDonald's or Sbarro's.

How do you think Papa John's charges less for a pizza than Sbarro's
and delivers it to your house?

Tipping customers are compensating those workers while
you are getting the service free.

Although at my job I rarely receive tips, I hate dealing with cheapskate
pain in the ass customers like you.

I have to agree with Red Dawn here. You will have a life full of saliva tainted food and you come here to brag about it?

If you stiff all the time, and I've got more than one 'za to deliver, and the route that I must take permits (one ways, dead ends, etc.), I will simply deliver your pie last. It's pretty bad for the stiffer if I've got to go downtown to a hotel before you get your pie. That can add a good 10-15 minutes to your wait. If it's a single (only one pie to deliver when I leave the store), I'll usually hurry just to beat the other drivers back in order to get the next run before they do. When it comes down to it, he who takes the most deliveries takes home the most money. Sometimes I'm up by 10 runs on some guys in the same night, which to me with my average (including mileage, which is paid in cash every night), is generally at least $30. The game of getting more runs is all about being smart about the roads and being quick while I'm out of the car. The game of getting a better tip is about being polite and professional, sometimes funny, and looking sharp and dressing well. And yeah, some people are cheap, but life goes on.

Gar, do you work at my place?? Although my boss provides the cars so all we have to do is fill them with gas at the end of our shift and give a reciept for it. He thankfully pays for all the maintanace on the vehicles, which last year, was over $1200 because a former employee decided to jump a curb in a ford escort wagon and mess up the whole front end.....

Frozen pizzas for me. Cheap, tasty, easy to make, no delivery, no wait. Do they have a downside?

But when I do eat out / order pizza, I tip well, very well. I was a busboy for the same resturaunt for 2 years. Those jobs suck plain and simple.

The guy gets PAID to deliver pizza. I usually tip $1.00 plus whatever change is left over, and even then I feel like I'm getting the shaft. In a resturant, if the server does a good job, I tip around 40-60% because I know they deserve it.

A pizza delivery guy brings the pizza to my door, and I interact with him around 30 seconds at most, so why should he get my hard earned money? All he did was hand me my food.

you tip your server 60% but you wont tip the dleviry guy more then $1, am I the only one who thinks this is BS?

Bottom line is that you tip delivery drivers because they brought you food. You do have the option of picking it up yourself if you don't feel like tipping. That's all there is to it.
