Had no idea that kids are still dropping out of HS.

NJ isn't the last place I'd want to live, but it heavily favors the low end of the chart. We have a little bit of Jersey here in MD. We call it Edgewood, Aberdeen, Dundalk, and Middle River. Since douchebaggery doesn't follow political borders, you can add Eastern PA and NY to the Jersey list. Same shit, different name.

Northern New England (Mass and up) is pretty much the only part of this country I have any interest in living in ... but I’d take Jersey over pretty much any southern, midwestern or southwestern state. I don’t even particularly like Jersey, but there’s some beautiful areas in the north. Georgia, Florida, Alabama etc are bottom of the list for me.

I was born in NJ or so I'm told ... obviously can't recall much of living there since we moved to Northern Westchester county NY when I was a little over a year old.

And there are some very pretty parts of NJ especially the Cape May area and parts of the NW corner of the state.

Having said that, my favorite thing about NJ is still leaving.

I paddled Tohickon creek a couple times, and it's a nice part of the country. It's in east PA, and borders Jersey. Didn't spend enough time to know what the people were like, but it was pretty to look at.

Indeed. I grew up in Northeastern NJ but was unaware of much of the natural beauty close by until I was older. The northwest part of the state is full of numerous big beautiful state parks. Lots of camping and hiking. Then you have the Delaware Water Gap area, also in the NW, with river activities and more hiking and camping. To the Northeast end of the state you have Palisades State Park full of natural beauty and that starts right under the GW bridge. It's a well-kept secret. Just drive an hour north and you are at Harriman State Park as soon as you enter NY state, where I've backpacked and hiked. Amazing trails. A little further north are the Catskills. Go a bit over an hour south and you are at beaches, just skip the few towns that cater to the young partygoers and you'll avoid that trash. And all that close to the cultural epicenter of the United States, NYC. Of course that's pre-Covid. Now all the museums, shows, exhibits and indoor dining are non-existent. A lot of people are leaving the actual city due to covid. Why pay NYC prices when you don't have the amenities? I don't blame them.

As a person of intelligence forced into a small town HS, I chose to drop out rather than take classes that did not interest me. Adult HS with the drop outs, thugs, and pregnant was my go to at a local JuCo.

Iowa & Montana are tops with the highest graduation rates with around 90%.

Worst are Washinton DC, Oregon, NM & AZ.

In NJ, we are still full serve.
If you own an electric vehicle in NJ, are you allowed to plug in your own power cord, or do you have to hire a guy to do it for you...? lol
