That's a very good question about sedation. I do not know the answer to that. I would imagine that they would not do it as the surgery isn't severe enough to warrant it. Not only that, but most importantly, it's always a risk factor (get the right dose to that you wake up and not die) to sedate a patient and is VERY exensive for the anesthetic.
