Das anyone have Mirror Mode working on their UD3P... I have yet to get this function work with dual monitors... When I enable Mirror Mode. One screen goes black...

Little help please?

Hmmm, not really sure how this is supposed to work, but with my 3 monitor setup, 2 display the same thing and the third one is black with the cursor visible. HTH

Thanks Mosslack...

I am currently using an 8400GS will one dvi and one vga outputs... I can get the monitors to display in dual view mode (or extended mode).... But what I can not get is mirror mode... The same thing on both displays. All I get is one screen that works and one screen that turns black with a moving cursor.

How can I fix this?

To my knowledge, screen mirroring is one thing that absolutely doesn't work correctly on a Hack. Pretty much every time I've tried it, on numerous setups, different (nVidia) video cards, I get the black screen rather than a mirrored screen.

I'm guessing its one of those things like Firewire target disk mode that only works with a real Mac.

Nice to see Zaap stopped by, sure not much happening here. I still don't know what the mirror option is primarily used for. Guess I could google it. Anyone out there, out there, out there...

Seems like most people who want to build a hack have gotten the hint: BUY SUPPORTED HARDWARE, and those that wanted one, built one.

I know I've moved on to more mundane tasks (see also: my post on cleaning up my contacts).

Considering getting a netbook to hackintosh for work recently. Looking at the HP 311, looks like its a pretty usable hackintosh. 11" screen and seems like everything on it works. Anyone have any comments on it?

It's pretty outdated, I've been working on fixing it up in my spare time. What kind of card are you looking for?

Totally missed this somehow. Anything that will match up well on my ASUS P5N7A-VM/Q8400/Built-in nVidia 9300/8GB rig and play some recent-ish games for mac.

How's it going, mosslack?

Hey, I'm still waiting for a new thread, one from this decade... ;) I kid, I kid!

Screen mirroring -same image on every screen of a multi-monitor setup- seems to have pretty limited use, so it's never bothered me much that it doesn't work on a Hack.

Most often I've seen people use it to give a presentation or a lesson- the presenter manipulating the main screen, and the viewers watching an unobstructed mirrored view of it on a projector or TV.

A friend of mine needed it recently to give a Flash lesson to someone- using a 21" Wacom Cintiq, while the student followed along on another monitor. That setup works great, since the view of work being done on a Contiq is mostly blocked by the user. My friend was forced to boot into Windows 7 (in Windows it's called cloning the display)to give the lesson. Ahh well, can't do everything with a Hack!

Both the HP 311 and Asus 1201N are good systems and both have their good points. All comes down to price and performance in my book. If you are looking to save a little of the $$$, go with the HP 311, if you don't care about the extra $$$, go with the Asus. BTW, I have both and find myself using the Asus a lot more than the HP. Just my own preference. HTH

Going okay I guess, the weekend is here so it can't be too bad! The reasons you stated for the mirror mode was exactly what I figured and I can see where it would come in very handy for a presentation. I've had some it worked well with and initially when I put my 3 monitor system together it did work. Now only 2 have the mirrored screen and the third one is blank. Who knows why.

Did I tell you my next big project is a P55 board with an i5 CPU and 6 monitors? I'm looking at the boards which have 3 PCIe slots on them for this project. Gonna be awesome dude!

Thanks for letting me know about the Asus 1201N. Did not know about it being hackintosh compatible. That looks great, I am wanting as big of a screen as possible, but still considered a netbook. Do you know if both cores are able to be used in OSX? If so I think that would be the fastest one I can get, as long as I throw in another 2GB stick of ram. Do you know of any guides for installing on it? I have looked a little bit, but don't see anything too dumbed down. I have a retail snow leopard disc, would prefer to go that route.

Nevermind, found this:

Yeah, that's my guide, if you need more info on it, the thread is here:

That tells what is working and what isn't. And BTW, the current limit on RAM is 4 Gb, there have been some attempts to use 8 Gb, but I believe the BIOS is the limiting factor. Oh, and it comes stock with 2x1 GB sticks so you actually need to buy 2x2 Gb, or the single 2 Gb stick will give you 3 Gb RAM. HTH

I wonder if it works with dual graphic cards- but not with dual links on one graphic card?. No idea, but if I had to venture a guess.

Sounds awesome! Keep us posted how that goes. You're working on being king of the multiple monitors!

At work there are several people saving up to get i5 and i7-based Hacks in a month or two, so I'll soon get my first taste of building Nehalem-based Hackintosh goodness. It'll be great to finally go current-gen.

It could very well be b/c that is what happens on my setup. The displays which originate from different cards work properly, while the one that goes black is on the card which has 2 displays hooked up to it.

I'll have to wait for my tax refund (haven't even filed yet), so you may get the chance before I do. Let us know how it turns out.

Well it looks like I can get it for around $480 on ebay plus 8% cashback. Is that the best deal around? Have looked at ebay, newegg, and amazon and that looks like the best deal. Is the stock configuration pretty usable?

I will mostly be using this to keep stuff straight between work and home. Email, excel, word files, basic internet browsing, calendar, and citrix. I will also sync my itunes library onto it so I can watch movies on my downtime.

Also does it pair up very well with the iphone for tethering?

Also was it your 1201N that I saw with the apple logo on it? Is that a skin or just a sticker?

Presently trying to update to 10.6.3 as soon as it finished downloading. Is the one on Ebay brand new? I don't think I would buy a used one, but that's just me. I got mine from NewEgg. I think the stock config is very usable, 2 Gb is plenty of RAM for most apps. Not a lot of screen real estate, so not a lot of room for multiple windows.

You will need a new wlan card to surf as the one which comes with it is useless in SL. Also the onboard E-net doesn't work. I use a USB/E-net adapter.

No idea about pairing up with iPhone, don't have one, nor want one.

Wasn't mine, AFAIK, no pictures of mine are online, except those I made of the take-apart for the wlan and hard drive replacement.

Will let you know how 10.6.3 goes, only one report so far, person got a KP, but I don't think they were using the latest version of the bootloader.

Seems pretty typical...KP with wrong sleepenabler, kills audio in certain configurations, ATI users are having a hard time.

Right you are, pulled SleepEnabler.kext and it boots just fine. Everything seems to be working so far. Watched about half an episode of a show on hulu and it worked just fine. I know the people with the HP Mini are doing without sound if they update. They are looking for a VoodooHDA sound solution I believe now.

I have tried a few sleepenablers for 10.6.3 but none work for me. People are reporting they are working... but for me, they all boot with no KP but no sleep. Maybe because I cannot get audio to work. People saying you just have to modify applehda.kext but not working for some.

Maybe I will try voodoohda, or go back to 10.6.2... still waiting for update from blackosx. He says he is busy atm.

Just noticed that the EP45 is out of stock on newegg. Is there a new go to board out yet?

Seems to be a bunch. P55 chipsets seem to work really well. For core i series. Im so tempted to update. But my computer does everything i need it too. Including playing all games... i just got that upgrade bug.
