OSX86Tools didn't work for me either. Magically though Netbook Boot Maker did. My 1000H is now running iDeneb and has been updated to 10.5.8, and seems like everything that works works. Would be nice if it only shows one battery icon instead of two though.

Yeah those Dell guys really did a good thing on that NBBM utility. I used it to do my Neutrino for 10.6 and it worked like a charm and then later used their Netbook Installer to update to 10.6.2. Glad you got it working.

Hey Happy ThanksGiving and Happy Turkey day..

Kaido, you have and are doing an incredible job. don't let assholes like Truthful put you on the stress wagon. that's what people like that are for. If it wasn't for him you would not have realized how much stress you can give yourself through someone's ridiculous comments, (who has not, does not, will not contribute anything, including at the very least some kind words of thanks and appreciation)

I strongly believe people working for macintosh will be lurking around many such sites behaving like total assholes especially towards guys like you so to disturb your spirit and undermine the great things you do for many noobs like us. So again, understand that these guys have wrong intentions and so just ignore them. And most of us though eagerly await and want to test out new stuff, also understand that we rather have perfect kits that work, and we know (from the past experience we have had using your kits) that you will take your time in perfecting the kit before releasing it to the mainstream noobies..

Now having said the above, I personally like using and use on daily basis all 4 OS's... WinXP, Win 7, Ubuntu and Leopard. And if I can't get a certain task done with one OS, I learn how to get the job done on another OS. They all got their good and their bad. So if anyone wants to specifically purchase a pc-built to run hackintosh on it and wishes to use it for getting their daily work done.......Please kindly remember, This is HACKINTOSH, for HOBBYISTS.... sometimes it WON'T work and some people like Kaido go through a great amount of work to get us to the next updated newer and better level, despite having a family, full time job and school.. So kindly please be patient and continue to learn as the rest of us and stop pestering our Hackintosh Guru... You Truthful Asshole....

Well, cut my hair and call me baldy, mohkahn as I live and breathe. Welcome back stranger, how have you been? And truer words were never spoken, Kaido has truly been a huge help and inspiration to us all. Plus you are right on the money with your comments about using different OSes for different things. ;)

I just updated FakeSMC to 2.5 based on Stel's blog, picks up all 4 core temps (Q9300/P45-UD3P). Who knows how correct they are, but at least it gives me something to go by, and it works with iStat Menus.

Should be about 10-12C higher (actual temp) than your BIOS reports or Windows reports. Power management is kinda funky on Hackintoshes

Does anyone know if there's a fix for jerky mouse response with PS/2 touchpads? I'm experiencing very terrible mouse sensitivity issue (well, it seems like a sensitivity issue - the cursor would jerk around where I am positioning it and sometimes keeps gliding up or down even after my finger is no longer on the touchpad, and sometimes it'll accidentally misclick and stick) and SteerMouse doesn't fix it, so I am guessing it's an inherent problem with iDeneb's ApplePS2Controller.kext.

I don't get problems like that when I'm using my USB Logitech wireless mouse. Or do they sell stickers that roughen up the touchpad a bit to make it less sensitive? I'm tempted to get a piece of sandpaper and go to town with it...urgh.

This is the EeePC 1000H, running iDeneb 10.5.6 later updated to 10.5.8. However I am using an ApplePS2controller.kext from 10.5.6.

It seems like its an issue with the PS/2 kext or the way the touchpad is interpreted, not the actual touchpad.

I get similar results if I use a Logitech G5 and Snow Leopard. (The device isn't supported)

1. No specific release dates, unless I have something ready to roll.

I'd put dates down. I had a professor in collage that handed out his first day rules etc, which had about 3 lines on it, and one was "hand in projects on time or face serious penalties etc"

A friend of mine asked a question about that "Hey Tino, you syllabus has an error, what's this about handing things on time?"

To which the professor replied "If you have had me before you know my policy on due dates"

You could pretty much hand things in whenever you wanted for full credit, as long as you did the work, and tried to learn something, he was happy. In fact I seem to remember most people in the CS faculty were like this.

Guess my point is, who really keeps a deadline in the tech industry? Why should Kaido? Just say thanks and move along hahah.

So you know if there are fixes I can try?

I'm planning on building a Snow Leopard hack for my cousin for, mostly, graphic design work (Adobe CS4). Her husband will likely be doing some minor video editing in Final Cut. I was pretty much planning on using the specs from the Lifehacker article.

UD3P
TRENDnet TEG-PCITXR NIC (Is this still needed? Or do the onboard NICs work fine)
E7500
4GB RAM
500GB HD
9800 GTX+

Basically at this point I'm trying to reduce the cost a bit. They won't really be doing any 3D gaming. Is there a cheaper video card that will work with the stella installer? I'm not sure if Final Cut or Adobe will leverage the video card any, if at all.

Also, any issues with Time Machine or Sleep with this setup? I'm curious to know what quirks my cousin might encounter.

I believe you can delete the NIC as the onboard does work. Only problem was no bonjour but I think the R1000 kext for SL fixed that. You can google for that or back check on this thread. Most any Nvidia card will work, I have a 256 Mb 8400 GS in mine which performs well, but AFAIK, this install DOES NOT support dual video cards (at least not on mine!), so just using a single card should work fine. HTH

With stel's installer, I have a working NIC, but it will not auto configure for network speed.. ie: if you have gigabit you need to manually specify 1000BaseT, fully functional otherwise.
Edit: The NIC stayed at 100 even if plugged into 1GBit source, after manually changing it, everything flows fine.

Also I think nearly anything past 7300 series will work, but it's always good to check.

Since I've updated to 10.6.2 sleep has been quirky, but I'm using onboard sound and NIC, which could change if I decided not to go that route.

Yeah, I agree, and again I have to apologize for overshooting my deadlines - I do feel stupid for not making them on-time, and it's my own fault for putting it out there like I did (overexcitement before finalized kits, haha).

Like several others have said, you don't owe anyone anything. Of course it's disappointing when a deadline is missed, but anyone with an iota of self-awareness knows that just because I feel bad, it doesn't mean someone else is to blame.

Kind of makes me not want to bother sharing at all, lol. People like "truthful" coming in and demanding releases without contributing anything get on my nerves - no feedback, no testing, no help, but expecting that I do things for them and demanding output.

One of the things I have always admired about you is your ability to shrug off trolls and flamers. Keep rising above them - you've contributed more than they ever will.

I'm using the udp3 kit, have not went to snow leopard. I'm thinking i want to get a more compatible nic and usb sound first. I want the nic mostly cause the onboard nic on the udp3 drops now and then, and the only way to get it back it reboot or to unplug the cable and plug it back in.

Anyone have suggestions on nics for that kit that will make snow leo a breeze? I'm hoping to fix the random network not work issues too.

Well i got Autosleep working finally (though not as i was trying to hard ;p) I stumbled on this thread. And it does work http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=182535

I have not extensively tested but everything i have tried has worked great. The only problem im having now is that if sound isnt used after a period of time, it will click at first use. There is a fix for this but that fix makes sleep very slow. And right now im valuing fast sleep over random audio click.

Also does anyone know if this is a problem? "Updated Guide to v1.4.01
I updated the guide this weekend to remove the previously suggested SATA fix. I have chosen to take a back step as the SATA fix was wrong and tricked the OS in to thinking our motherboard had ICH8, not ICH10"

I still have that 'fix' enabled in my DSDT, and dont want to screw up my stable DSDT.

Funny, I have not noticed that at all since switching to SL. I'm running 10.6.2 now, using the modified R1000 kext and things are humming along nicely. I've even got my dual video card support working again thanks to a DSDT file I found on Insanely. Sound wasn't working with it, but I modified it with the relevant DSDT code from my install with working sound and now I have the best of both worlds! ;)

I took this a little further and I altered Stellarola's installer with the files used by my system. I then did a fresh install on another partition on my HD and it seems to be working just fine. I may be interested in posting this for download at some point, but right now there are a couple of issues I need to address.

One is an odd problem which causes the system to kp on a restart. It seems to work fine up until it restarts and the initial blue screens appear. I then get the, You need to restart message, and I have to shutdown the system. This doesn't happen if you use shutdown to exit and then restart by pressing the power button, but I have no idea of what could be causing this.

The other problem is bonjour, which is not present unless that fix is used or the SL updated R1000 kext is installed. While certainly not as serious as the first one, I would like to get them both fixed before uploading the installer package. Any suggestions?

EDIT: Anyone with a UD3P, with or without dual video cards, I would appreciate your opinion on this install if you have an extra partition. It works the same as the Lifehacker install, restore SL to an 8 Gb or larger flash drive, run this installer on it, install SL on the HD partition, then install the package on that partition after SL is setup. This does not include the R1000 kext or bonjour fix of any kind. I'm mainly interested in seeing if others have the same problem with restarts. Thanks!

Kaido,

Do you happen to still have your 10.5.6 ES2L Kit available to download somewhere? I was fooling around and now I get the blue screen of death. I have reloaded 10.5.6, but I can't find your kit (I thought I had it saved, but no luck!).

Thanks,

Evan

fwiw it updated to 10.5.8 fine for me. The only thing the new kit really adds (for Leopard) is driver consolidation into the DSDT.

As always Kaido...you THE MAN!!!!

Thanks a bunch for the very fast reply. Just to confirm, I use the UInstaller in the ES2L Kit folder from the MagicBootDisc_ES2L and install all the appropriate kexts and strings?

I'll try to update to 10.5.8 as well.

Thanks again.
