What are you doing? What's your strategy??

Build up a stockpile of credits in defense and bandwidth ... sell it all and upgrade the virus ... build it back up again.

I was sitting on at least 8512 for both. When I sold out, I had 140,000 credits. 🙂

Virus level 4
2296 mhz
1024 kbps
666 infected machines
3,330 income per tick

It's kinda hard to build a stockpile of credits in anything when you're getting attacked all the time. Have you gotten attacked a lot today?

My strategy is a bit different, I wouldn't build virus yet because all you're doing is being a cash cow. I stack up attacks and hit four or five targets at once, then use the proceeds to upgrade more attacks; rinse, and repeat. I think the whole point of this is to annoy people, because there's no point in keeping any extra credits. My strategy seems good, but then I can't keep my attack points because I'm always itching for retaliation.

Whatever I have leftover from upgrading my attacks, I toss them in defense, meh.

You're doing it wrong. Spend your credits on stuff as soon as you win them, then sell them at a later date. Not only are you creating a little insurance for later, you're not allowing anyone to steal a lot of credits when they attack you. Remember, if you don't have it, they can't steal it. 😉

Just on one of my attacks I had 20,048 credits taken from me so I try not to stockpile much any more.

By "stockpile" he means in terms of kbps and Mhz, not as credits. You only take a 25% hit when you sell them vs. a 100% hit they loot you.

OK, here's the official sssnail's strategy guide:

1. Don't attack right when you get a clean IP, do it a few minutes before you pick up a new one.
2. Attack when you have 4-5 IPs.
3. Invest in kbps, buy the most expensive one you can afford first, then put the rest in whatever you can and the vault won't hold
4. On the next attacking rounds, sell the cheap ones, and buy the more expensive ones with the money you have.
5. ...
6. Profits.

On another note, you won't make much off virus right now, so concentrate on attacking. Seek out players with high attack and low defense, chances are they'll have more cash than others. Also, attack people that are in a clan, because they think they're protected.

I thought cash cows would be the ones with high defense and low attack as they're trying to just build viruses and be "friendly"

Yeah, but they'd spend all their money on vault and defense, and they're harder to hit.

Ok, I signed up. Now to read this entire thread and figure out how this works.

It's really confusing at first cus nothing make sense but read the newbie guides and they'll help you a lot.

What if there was a "tool" that went through the list of all users and kept track of their ranking per tick so we could see who was stagnant / losing places vs. active?

Eh I dont know if that would work since people are constantly selling defense and buying defense (same for attack) so the list would also have to show how often they seem to change rank to really pick out the stagnant ones.

Just a side note, you were REALLY pissing off the locals in global chat yesterday

Also it would be nice to have a little script that told you whether it was cheaper to buy 54 Semprons versus one Kentsfield, after adjusting for the price increases and such.

Not sure what tool is available, but I cut and pasted everyone ranked 201 to 375 into a text document. No sense in wasting attacks on someone who is active (and thus would have no accumulated credits unless they foolishly were leaving them out in the open, waiting to purchase something expensive. I think that next time I take a break from the lawn mower, I might pay closer attention.

Virus level 4
6964 mhz
11620kbps
3360 per tick
😀 I passed nobody again
