Been where, Iraq? Tell us about it.

N00b, study U.S. history. We have been in many conflicts over the last 30 years.

So let me get this straight. You see a commercial, you come in here and bash the principals of it and make a vague reference to serving in the Army and then tell someone to read U.S. History about the conflicts from the past 30 years? Did you serve in a conflict or not? Was it in the U.S. Army? Start talking or it's gonna get ugly in here real quick, P&N-style ugly.

Why are you getting hostile. I am only stating the truth. Any of the military services will train you for any MOS you choose when you sign up, but after that it is a crapshoot. When you get your assignment you can be put on any duty they deem necessary. After all, everyone has a primary MOS as a rifleman.

Yes, been there, done that. 1968-1969.

😉

You're so full of $hit, it's not even funny. There's two things that really, really piss me off in this world and that's liars and people who lie about their military service. Start coughing up more than just a year of time and start talking branch, rank, unit, duty station, etc. or I will take some time to find out who you really are in any way I can. I'll enlist (pun intended) the help of people who can find out who you are and I'm sure there's more than a few here on these boards willing to do so.

Second, I'd like to say that even if (that's a big fvcking "if") you did serve, the Army has changed so dramatically from when you served that you don't have a fvcking clue about what it's like. I joined as an MP and I've done MP work my entire time in the service, period. Rarely are today's soldiers tasked with anything too far outside their primary specialty if for no other reason than they're trained in the job by some of the best training in the world and employed in such a manner as to be absolutely vital in skillset to the overall machine. There would have to be a whole hell of a lot of combat arms people lying dead on the battlefield before an Army trained computer tech picks up his weapon and rushes to the front to bolster the fight. I suggest you take a modern U.S. History lesson and start somewhere around the time of Desert Storm and work your way forward and/or back about 10 years from there.

Wow, well put.

Wakeup call!!!!!!

Hey, Buddy, they will train you for anything you want, but when your arse gets dropped off in Afghanistan or Iraq you are going to be a grunt.

Been there, done that and nothing has or will ever change.

OJT is the greatest teacher you will ever find.

Seriously... you get a LOT of socks.

I didn't get socks. There were supposed to be socks in my ditty bag, but there weren't. I ran out of the white gym socks I brought with me, and resorted to wearing my black socks that I had also brought. I then got stopped and screamed at by every NCO and had to explain repeatedly that my ditty bag had no socks in it, and I was waiting for a reply to my paperwork indicating that they had not supplied me with any socks. 😛

Right. You have never been there nor done that so you don't have the faintest idea of what you are talking about.

I guess I'm going to chime in and sorta ask why the hatred in this thread towards the OP?!? I don't see him making fun of service members. I think he's more making fun of the commercials and the sorta deception they use for recruitment. I mean...am I wrong on that?!?!?

Or does that make a terrorist/America Hating person because I dare say something/anything negative about the armed forces.

I hope that satisfies the doubters.
