Been running with the H70 since the OP, still running with no issues.
Changed the TIM on remount.
A little warning about that...it's VERY picky. Most likely your temps will be considerably higher. Tried various TIMs. Found AS5 to work OK by using the X pattern on the IHS. It applies too much for a normal application however temps were very close to original mount.

A box of MX4 arrived and I thought "oh boy! Time for a remount!". I guess this deserves a thread on its own but the MX4 is definitely an improvement over its predecessor, MX3. Much easier to apply and good temps! I got good temps with MX3 ONCE and went through a tube trying remounts with inconsistent results. The next tube (and the tube after!) were defective IMO, all runny and giving horrid results.

With the MX4 results have been great and it's been about a month since I mounted with MX4. Using a pair of GT-1800RPM fans at full speed. Idles in the mid 20s (low temp bug with Westermere) and true full load (Linpack) in the upper 60s. That's a six core CPU at 4.2GHz with 1.375V. Not bad for wannabe watercooling, eh?

i have had a true black, which is pretty close to a v-x, and i got an h70 the other day. the h70 completely blows it away in a lanboy air case. my idle temps are around 6c lower (a suprise) and load temps are averaging over 10c better. i am really impressed. this is the only coolermaster product i have ever owned, in 12 years of building pc's.

Was that TRUE black in push/pull mode?

With 690 II advanced also replaced all the stock fans in this case.

picked up 3 140mm Xigametek fans about 60CFM each 2 at the top for exhaust 1 for front intake.

Have a S-flex 1900RPM fan for rear exhaust and moved the default rear exhaust fan to the side panel.

all of this under a fan controller tho so no noise issues and temps were taken with most fans at only 60-70% of there rated speeds.

with a TRUE Black in push/pull with 1600 RPM S-Flex fans

920 @ 3.6 1.2v

Idle temps are in the 35-38c range full load around 66-69

Hyperthreading is on also.

Actually no, this is out in the open.

I'm still debating on the fan configuration to use!

What about using shrouds/ducts for the fans? Testing reported that spacing the fans on each side about 30mm away from the radiator improved performance. Roughly 10-15% reports this testing linked below.

Perhaps you could rig a quick test if you have old 120mm fans by removing the fan from the plastic frame and using it as a spacer/shroud.

Shrouding may add efficiency of a degree or two. Never tried it though in this case. The system is up and running now and is in "don't fix it if not broken" status. ;)

It's definately case-dependent. I'm using a CM 690 II and the front intake fan is primarily for the HDDs which end up blocking the intake airflow. I'm trying to keep fans at a minimum so mounting intakes on the side panel is out of the picture. My solution is to replace the stock top-panel 120 on the 690 with a 2000 RPM Scythe as an exhaust. I'll then use another Scythe 120 on the back of the rad for intake and the Corsair stock on the front of the rad in a push-pull.

Can you let me know how this worked out for you?

I've got the the same case and looking at the H70. Problem is the back of my case traps all the exhaust so its HOT. I was thinking of mounting the H70 on the front to access cooler air. Think it would work? I'm also thinking about 2 x Yate Loon D12SH-12 - High Speed to replace the corsair ones.
