I really wish the wireless module they included was a cell phone module (or whatever usable module), instead of a text pager (umm. email) module that requires additional service plan to make it work. :(

Anybody hacked that wireless module?

scored the last 3 from my local store. The manager even told 'free after rebate'. Looks like they know everything. Also he told they would not restock it until Christmas. Thanks.

Does anyone have an idea how long it will take before the rebate status is posted on wheresmyrebate.com? I'd like to know that we were definitely getting the rebate before giving these as gifts.... Thanks so much to the original poster, BTW- I was skeptical at first, but I figured we had nothing to lose.

evergreen168 - thats funny, two stores told me they wouldn't be restocking at all, that they were discontinued by the manufacturer and when they are gone, they're gone. They did know they would be free after the rebate, and the manager at one store said it was a purposeful move on corporates part, so we should be good to go on the rebates.

Why are people buying over 2? The rebate is only good for 2 per household. I guess the $99 deal is good even without the rebate???

Buying over 2 beacsue you can send the rebates in under frinds name or osmething, in my case i just send it in under my uncles name, and he gives me the money when it comes..... I always send under my grandpa's name, and uncles name *easy cause my gpa is a next door neibor

People submit rebates on different address, so they can claim more. My local OM manager even suggested this way once to me.;)

By filling on both home address and work address, I did receive multipal rebates (for PC cameras, CDRs), till one day I found there are other deal hunters in my company, and they were using the work address also :Q

Even I believe everything will be OK in this deal, but there is still chance that you will not get your rebate for whatever reasons. And that $100 is not a small ticket, so I did not even get the second one.

CC and CompUSA only require copy of UPC, so I believe they must trace the number on the receipt. From that number, they will know if the item was returned, when and where it was bought, and if you paid by credit card, they will know your name, address also. So be very careful if you submit more rebates than they allowed. Simply put your brother's name may or may not do the trick.

About this multiple purchase business. The rebate company absolutely do track the receipt # (I know this because they rejected
several rebates on that ground). This one receipt per rebate is certainly a recent development because they
didn't use it required it. If any of you bought more than 2 on a single receipt, you should take it back and re-purchase it
again.

This won't prevent people from getting multiple items. All they are doing is forcing people to make multiple purchases on seperate receipts using cash.

Ok this is way kewl with the Xircom modem: Go to maglobe.com and get prepaid internet for as little as $14.99 for about 7 hours of on line time, you can't use the autodialer they download (palm OS 3.3) but it's easy to set up the manual dialer. Local access phone numbers for most places, prepaid is good for a year. Get Avantgo from Avantgo.com (free) and Surf the net from anywhere on your Visor Deluxe!

GRRRR Compucrap lied to me! Last week, the visors were out of stock, those that were in stock were "defective". Also told they had 60 to start with, 12 left were defective. 20% of them were bad? That's a little too high of a failure rate. So anyways, today I go there just because I'm passing by, they had 5 of them on the shelf! They must have been hiding the suckers until the rebate expired. (called 800, and they try to pass off a lot of BS on how people might have returned them, or defective models might not have been defective(shouldn't that be open box?)) The CS told me to talk to the manager at the store, I'm like I can't drive and the freaking manager ain't gonna talk to me anyhow. I ask him for the store's number, corporate number, corporate address, and he is like I don't have access to it:confused:.

Last Sunday Visit store, Visors outta stock, (Website still shows instock)
Middle of week like Tue or Wed, Website says limited stock, I call up and they say they are all defects(sounded kinda stage between the store and CS) and they wouldn't be getting any more
This Sunday visit store, 5 are on shelf!

I've played my visor for a while, actually I have already ran out a set of AAAs, even they claim it should last 2-month. Guess I beat it too hard.

Here's what I found. Our Visor's CPU is the slowest among the Visor family. It only has half speed comparing to others. And it is not upgradable. Our screen is not color. And it has few gray level. Not upgradable either. Our Palm OS is 3.1, and you bet, it is not upgradable (there are already uncompatible programs).

So basically our Visor Deluxe is like a 386 or 486PC running DOS, and you have no way to upgrade it, even the OS. That explains what it is free.

But I still love my Visor.

IF YOU PURCHASED 2 of the Handspring Visors from CompUsa: Mine had been approved- received e-mails a few days ago- BUT CHECK YOUR STATUS EVEN AFTER THE E-MAIL IS RECEIVED- mine went to denied- had to call them. I had purchased 2 on the same receipt, sent in 2 diffent forms, with different serial #'s on the UPC/SN photostats- and they denied it because same receipt was used twice. Spoke to a very nice person, she imm. agreed that the rebate form said 2 were allowed, and will send out a check :D. So- just follow up. I had to try a few times because the line was busy, but then was on hold only a minute or two, so the whole thing was a breeze!

I know the Visor Deluxe sucks when compared to my iPAQ and m505, but it's FREE (techincally it's considered to be VERY CHEAP instead of FREE since you have to pay sales tax). And I've learned not to complain about the stuff you get for free!

BTW I am still waiting for my free m100 from Infiniti!! Gosh I love free stuff!!!

>>>hmm mine was approved, but only for one...the second one never showed up. i love how the compusa rebate center "loses" this stuff.<<<

It's amazing...I have completed about 50 rebates with Staples this year, and they never even lost one...on the other hand, I have submitted about 8 rebates to CrapUSA this year and only 4 made it into their system (2 were paid earlier in the year).

It's also very strange that in 21 years at this address, the post office has NEVER lost any letter that I have ever sent out, except a few that have been addressed to rebate houses...I keep copies of everything of course, and eventually had the 'lost' rebates paid, but they sure do make you go through hoops and they certainly put a lot of effort into finding legal ways of retaining some of those rebate $ for themselves...my personal favorite technique is Staples and others sending a check without an envelope - real bright. [Personally, all of my Staples checks have arrived, but they could easily get lost this way]. They certainly know how to stack the odds of receiving a check against you. Ah well, part of the game - I still have $2,000.00+ out in rebates right now. Fortunately, only $300 of that is with CrapUSA. :)

Are there any more retailers (with B&M presence) that has these for $99.99. Also, are Visor Deluxe's good since Fry's Electronics has a ton of refurbished Visor Deluxe's for $99.99 and the only person I knew that got one of them had it break on him.

My mother's submission was received 12/31/01, according to a rep I spoke to. It was mailed on 11/27/01 and still doesn't show on the Web site.

My own submission still isn't in the system, even though it was mailed on the same date, from the same location...most likely they're overwhelmed and it's just a matter of when they get to you.

I got the $50 modem rebate posted and approved, but no $100 visor posted yet. Any one have the Visor rebate coupon 0138506.pdf they could email me in case I have to resubmit? I can't find it anywhere. The rebates may just be slow but I sent the forms in on the same day...
