Hello All....

I have a question.
I just bought the Visor yesterday. I bought it with a Credit card, and the receipt has my name on it. So the question is am i allowed to alter to receipt so that it doesnt show my name? like cross out my name only? I bought a few of these visors for family members and im afraid that the rebate wont go thru because the rebate said 2 per person/household/address.....
So when one of my family members send in there rebate the receipt is gonna have my name and rebate form under there name.
I know i can alter the receipt a little on Bestbuy receipts but, i dunno if im allowed to on a Compusa one.

So over all can it be done? and would i have problems if it cant be done cuz of the different names and addresses?

Thank you all
Laura

Hi, Pinkpig

This one really depends on the guys who will process your rebates. I recently got 3 rebates denied by them. The reason are all 'REBATE CANNOT BE TRANSFERRED', since I used my wife's credit blue card, but put my name on the rebate. But I did this before without any problems. So don't take the risk, just go back to the store to ask for a return and rebuy, usually they will return to their STORE CREDIT, then rebuy with the STORE CREDIT, leaving no name on the new receipt. Hope this helps.

thanks evergreen168

i have one more question but might be a stupid one =P
Umm can this return then rebuy be done at any Compusa? or do i have to go back to the one where i bought it from. I will hate it if i had to go back to the one i bought it from since i drove like an 1 and more to get there =X

Thanks
Laura

Since there is no Comp USA within 125 miles of me, is there anybody willing to buy one and send them my way? I am willing to pay shipping costs plus $20. Just think of it as an easy 20 bucks... PM me or email me at JRamsey@psu.edu.

So even they have fixed the price online (you may thank those people who kept calling to bring their attention), some B&M still have not updated the price tag?

Hmm, let's think if I need an extra one... :D

True WhiteMouse. Look for the price to fall back down by the second week in December. After the rebate ends.

from what I understand, its too late for the modem, you had to get that by 11/24

Eldercat, you can use the rebate if you bought a visor, but you really DIDNT buy a visor, you bought the activlink module, with a bonus of a visor, but you relaly didnt buy the visor. i talked to 2 different CSR's and they confirmed this with me -- it sux, but you still get the activlink module and handspring delux for free after rebate *also confirmed*

It looks like everyone figured out that a new rebate form for the Xircom modem now includes purchase of the Visor on 9/25 (earlier, the rebate required purchase by 9/24). And, if nobody thought about this earlier, I checked into the "free module with Visor purchase" deal, and found out that this version of the Visor (Visor Deluxe) is *specifically* excluded. Darn! That would have been a sweet little CompactFlash module for free.....

Anami -
I saw that too. If it is any consolation, the module is not free but
$4.95 and also it is not guaranteed (you list your preferences on the
3 choices). Staples has this for $50 - $20 MIR this week. use a $10
coupon and u should do ok.

Edited to correct price to $50 not $40. Also here is the Link

Hello everyone....

OK this is my first handheld device, and i like it! =]
Thanks for this great deal!

Umm umm can anyone in here get me up to speed on how this 56k modem thing works? i mean, if i connect it to a cell phone, i can just diall out and start using the internet?
where is the software in the palm? (browser) or is it included in the modem package?
and do i need to subscribe to some ISP to connect to the web? or i can just use a dial-up account from a ISP that i currently have.

sorry for the ton of questions =P

thank you
Laura

Got the last one in store.

The box was open. The back of receipt says 15% open box fee if returned. Should I talk to manager and does somebody have an experience whether the manager can give me something off since the box is opened.

Will see how the rebate goes.

Any idea where I can get a Xircom rebate form? Can't find online at CompUSA.com, nor at their B&M store. There's a really poor quality scan earlier in this thread, but it looks too dicy to risk. With another week or so to go, I'd like to chase down the modem, but only if I can get my hands on the rebate form first...

Re eligibility - I'm confident that if there's a problem, if I yell loud enough, I'll prevail. Regardless what they called the Glenayre package, the reality is that I gave CompUSA some cold hard cash, and they gave me a package that included a Visor Deluxe. If this isn't purchasing a Visor, I don't know what is.

If they give your trouble about the rebate, scan the ad and send it to them. It shows the offer right next to the @ctiveLink Visor Deluxe Package with SKU's and all.
