Couple things. It almost seems like Kyle with input in his forums, is implying AMD asked him to hold off on a 7970 crossfire article. Maybe knowing his style for including eyefinity/crossfire testing, it would expose to many bugs ?

Can't help but wonder if this prediction fit's.

One thing I don't like about the article is Kyle suggesting that CFX does not work at all. CFX definitely works. A couple of games don't have proper scaling (due to no cap profiles), which i've mentioned earlier. Most games scale well, i've tested quite a few.

blackened, are you saying articles shouldn't be posted? Or that pro-NV posters should ONLY post articles pertaining to Nvidia? Really?

I'm not saying that at all, I just question whether its intended to be informational or to fuel the fire to so speak.

Its sad that you have to question that...

Well nevermind then. Whatever the case, the [H] article will hopefully light a fire under AMD to ensure that 100% of games work reasonably well. So far i've only found a couple with slight issues, but lets face it all dual GPU owners (regardless of brand) have issues now and then.

Did people start flamewars over the nvidia drivers that destroyed GPU's? Yeah that really happened, and i'm just curious.

The difference there is you get an RMA for the broken video card, while with AMD you don't get any consolation for waiting on drivers to make your non broken cards not worthless.

Just sayin'.

What are you even talking about? The card was hard launched about a week ago, and having a card blow on you is a MUCH more serious issue than having issues with one or two games running CrossFire on a brand new video card. Give it a rest with the constant AMD bashing.

There is definitely something of substance to some making threads that are intended to lambaste their vendor of non choice. I don't think the [H] article is malicious and believe he genuinely had some game-breaking issues that need driver fixes for crossfire.

Of course once again some want to drag in amd vs nvidia to the conversation ? o_O Not sure why, as both companies have driver issues when it comes to multi-gpu scaling. AMD happens to be the ones with some right now. I remember getting raked over the coals for being pissed about nvidia taking two months to fix not just DA2 scaling, but DA2 period. The constant need to make these comparisons in every thread where one or the other has an issue is just going to fuel the fire. Expect plenty of flames when nvidia finally manages to release a 28nm card and you see the issues with that launch getting pointed out. :p

I guess one might wonder when someone raises a stink and the issue does not even pertain to them though...

The card isn't going to change anything when the same people are behind the drivers.

Not sure why you haven't figured out it has nothing to do with "the card".

Skyrim has been out for two months, still no sigh of a working CF profile for skyrim. That's two months where your second card, in this case, a $550 card is absolutely worthless.

Out of curiosity, why would you need four GPU's to use high res textures? When it comes to big textures, video memory is the issue, not GPU power. And running in SLI/CF does not add ANY video memory. You have the same amount that you would with a single 6990. That game is so CPU bound, I HIGHLY doubt you would need dual 6990's to run it.

Perhaps you're right but I still like to see all 4 GPU's working to put my mind at rest when its not cpu bound. It's the principle of waiting 2 months for a crossfire profile for quadfire I object to. At the moment all settings are maxed out and it does still drop to 40/50 fps which may or may not be a cpu limitation but without the profile who can tell. I never said I 'need' 4 GPU's to run it but thanks for the 'input' anyway.

I don't think H is biased to any vendor.

But I don't know how they can be having so many issues.

Non of these sites had any issues.

Eyefinity and up to 4 cards tested.

There countless people on this forum who have 2 and 3 7970s and don't have any issues with them apart from the odd game here and there. While [H] is claiming crossfire doesn't work at all.

SlowSpider
AdamK47
Backened23
RaistlinZ
FiLeZz

And a few others have crossfire working. So [H] are either very unlucky or... It could be something else who knows.

Why was the "nvidia cards blow up" stuff even posted. It as nothing to do with this thread, nothing at all. completely out dated and entirely irrelevant. This Nvidia driver issue has been resolved for quite awhile.

Consistent nvidia bashing is acceptable?

Is it just me or tweakboy seems stoned in most of his/hers posts?

You clearly missed the suggestion one day that all the threads he posts in be mirrored to a separate Tweakboy forum for entertainment purposes.

No, it's not just you.

So, actual 7970 cfx owners says there NOTHING wrong with their setup and the games they play overall in CFX. So he is complaining because he can't do a review of cfx because AMD wants to give him a newer driver later in the week? So what exactly is the problem with this? I understand if he loves instant gratification, but is it really that big of a deal with AMD wanting to ensure he has the latest driver for his review? And of course AMD wants their cards to be seen in the best light. There is apparently some reason for AMD to want him to have the newest driver... Which I would assume to be a good thing?

I have no idea what Kyle is doing because he suggests crossfire doesn't work at all.

Seeing as many users including myself have it working, and many xfire reviews are on the web, thats incorrect.

It does work. A few titles don't have CAP profiles. Should AMD fix this ? sure. Does he have a valid point that CAP profiles should be more timely? Absolutely. Cayman dual GPU suffered because of this, there is no question of that. I have an issue with him stating that it does not work at all, that is definitely not correct.

I didn't say there wasn't anything wrong. If you read my post you can see there's plenty wrong by having to perform the workarounds needed to get things running.

I was drawing a comparison based on his statements; nothing more. I didn't say the issue existed currently. Not that it needs to be mentioned again as many other posters have said it already, but the issue is being blown way out of the water. The problems users are experiencing are with very few cards and few games. Saying CrossFire on the HD 7970 doesn't work is completely disingenuous.

And looking at my sig rig it definitely makes sense I'm bashing NVIDIA.

I was very disappointed in DA2 being broke with DX11. I thought it was just 1 month though. Either way, I bought the game and wasnt a happy camper. waiting for nvidia to fix it wasnt cool.

As far as starting this thread,
What is the problem? The article was news to me. I mean, this is what we do. If you dont agree with the article then feel free to speak on it. We read articles and discuss them all the time. It seems on this occasion some ppl here dont agree with the article but want to go after the OP instead. I found this interesting.

Reading through this thread i seen several ppl having specific CF issues on individual games or what not. Apparently, this article has meaning and is a topic of relevance to some here. I also have seen ppl who are completely satisfied with their CF experience. This is fine. In this thread both sides are free to speak their minds, free to discuss their issues or lack there of. Its an opportunity for a community to get together over a common topic, this one being the 7970 CF.

So back to the OP. he couldve used this article to spin an agenda. He couldve posted negative bias and yet he did nothing of that sort. I mean there is so much that the community could gain from such a topic but there are ppl here who try to make information evil. Its just information, current and valid. Some may not want to see this information, but it is very valid.

For those who see all negatives, its not always so. [H] is an important site and they believe speaking out was necessary. Obviously he isnt out to get AMD, its most likely the reverse. By speaking out, AMD will have to take note. He is only trying to pressure them into making the 7970 CF even better. As the word spreads, so does that pressure. I mean, anyone who doesnt get that out of the article needs to rethink it again. Its not about AMD hate, its about wanting AMD to step up for the benefit of everyone.

If your 100% happy with the 7970CF then speak up, this is the thread to do it in. But to go after the OP for posting absolute relevant information, its disgraceful to our community.

Seems that HardOCP tries to bash AMD at any open opportunity they can get. I never had an issue with their graphics cards.

You are mistaken. Over the past several years, across several product launches, I've felt that [h] was one of the most pro-amd sites. If they're criticizing xfire performance then there is probably a legitimate beef.

You're comparing 1080p vs surround?

There is no reason I should have to explain negative fps scaling.

Are you for real? So if the 7970s don't scale in skyrim it's drivers and if the 580s don't scale in skyrim it's a bottleneck? really?
