How does that work? 😵 (Pressure sensitive holes in the bottom that only allow in but not out?)

Thank you for joining our community, welcome to HardOC[You have been Perma-banned for the following reason: no reason]

Yeah, pretty much how it works there, they'd ban you for sneezing if they wanted.

lol that's accurate.

i've been banned there on a couple occasions and they were the stupidest bans ever. but, whatever.

I'm pretty sure I got banned from there as well, for something stupid, like saying I liked a certainly video card over the other.

[H] USED to be great. then they went to shit. the articles sometimes seem like they were written by a 5th grader. The bias is far worse then tomshardware (wich blows fucking goat chunks) and over all just went to hell.

I don't think i ever got banned but fuck its been a while since i even tried to log in. don't even remember my login or password heh.

The people at the [H] forum generally know more about computers than anandtech. I only really come here for the off-topic forum.

I used to brows the forums all the time but since I no longer care about keeping up with computer tech I rarely visit.

Every tech site I know of has a bias in some way. I think it often has to do with the site's relationship to a particular company's reps than their equipment. Tom's just went out and found anything they could to support their opinions and flat out ignored anything that contradicted them while actively bashing anyone who disagreed in the forums. I haven't been back there for about 6 years.

I'm starting to use [H] more these days than I have in the past. I get infractions here for the dumbest of reasons, and never had trouble there.

I use Tom's for when I'm considering an upgrade and haven't kept up. The large performance charts are invaluable to compare tech that spans several years (like my NV 9800gt to a modern GPU.)

Dudes, it's called HARD for a reason

stick with your role playing games and putting fake boobs on your 'elf' friend.

The problem was (they may have changed, I haven't been back) that the charts only reflected the site's bias rather than any real comparisons. At the very least, they lied by omission.

The keyboard / mouse section of their forum is pretty good, if you're into mechanical or otherwise expensive keyboards. Their computer audio section is also decent. Their Hot Deals board also tends to be superior, but between AT and SD, it doesn't matter much anyway.

If you post like a respectful human being you won't have any issues. If you go there and start ranting about one thing or another, you'll probably get banned. They tend to be a lot more exclusive than many other sites - less about having a huge fan-base and more about having a tight-knit community.

With all of that said, I'll take Anandtech any day of the week. I don't dislike [H], but I much prefer AT's style, caring attitude, and thoroughness of reviews. The fact that [H] also requires you to use a non-free email address pisses me off to no end.

The only site I will not touch is Tom's Hardware... except for their graphics charts (as a good way of comparing a modern mid-range card to an older top-end card; HD 6850 vs. 9800 GTX+, for example). C'mon Anand, let's see something similar here. 😀

Hard's ot must be pathetic, they offer free preview weekends every once in awhile. Why would anyone pay for that when we have the much superior and free atot?

They have a good video and displays section. Did all my research for my 2407 there, still running 4 years later.
