Next generation video compression.

Viper GTS
Next as in next after XviD (and friends), or next as in XviD (and friends).

I haven't been keeping up with video codec news, which is a problem since I do encoding in my spare time.

What's that mean?

I'd like to convert my Band of Brothers HD into H.264 if there isn't THAT much of a loss in quality.

maybe...when the time is right...and you flower into a grown individual...you can learn...

but until that time transforms and compression algorithms r lost on you

:( i have no idea i just set max quality for audio/video at 720...i can't really tell the diff b/w the 1080p and the final 720p output...

not a problem...I've been a little too, as I said earlier, "engrossed" in compression algorithms... My mind is still on it...it became more than a class, it was more like a hobby...plus I'm lookint toward multiple description algorithms, as a grad thing...damn me...damn alcohol

whoa...you're able to decode the h.264 with ffdshow? could you post your settings ffdshow/mpc (or whatever player) settings? I've tried a bunch of combinations and can't seem to get it (with ffdshow).
