whoa...you're able to decode the h.264 with ffdshow? could you post your settings ffdshow/mpc (or whatever player) settings? I've tried a bunch of combinations and can't seem to get it (with ffdshow).

it works...sometimes..:|

Not working right now that's for sure....it WAS....I had a daily show clip all cued up and :|

Okay, real quick, explain why I should preffer h.264 over XviD. And no, I'm not to dull to understand your fancy learnin' words.

Don't prefer anything yet.

No love with Media Player Classic, and that thing can play just about anything. 'course I've uninstalled ffdshow since it has some severe Packed Bitstream playback issues. I could maybe, maybe install it and prevent it from playing XviD/DivX/etc. but that seems like a cosmic pain in the ass compared to me bugging you to encode it with XviD. 😛

On that monsters inc link vid, first second plays but after that video pauses but sound continues. 10 fps in first second and then it says 3 fps for the other 4 seconds.

I just watched the 7Mb clip in Windows Media Player, worked perfectly, at a fairly good framerate. FFDShow not installed.

[Edit] Seems to be using the Nero Digital codec. <shrug> Still works, no grey frames.
