Gym got rid of only power rack

So my gym got rid of their only power rack so that they can put in a new super-smith machine...IT MOVES IN ALL 3 PLANES!!! Fuck me. They have 2 other smith machines, and hell 2 squat racks (one of which is never used). They HAD to get rid of the fucking power rack?

So the rack arrives, and it actually has safety bars on it. It's like a smith combined with a regular rack. Here's the thing though, it's VERY wide. So resting a bar on the safety bars there's not much room between where the safety bars end and the knobs on either end of the olympic bar start. There's like a half inch per side. Really a pain in the ass. Plus the rack is very cluttered, there's pins and bars all over the place.

So I've made a decision; I'm going to destroy the rack. It's the cheapest piece of shit I've ever seen. The safety bars are the flimsiest pieces of shit I've ever seen. They might actually be hard plastic. I'm going to rack pull 500 and let it snap them when I re-rack it. The mechanism on the smith portion of it looks cheap as hell, and loose. I'm going to do some sort of explosive movement, maybe cleans?, and see if I can tear the damn thing apart.

I kind of hope the ASE certified personal trainers that lobbied for this thing look on in horror as I demolish this piece of shit. I wonder if they'll cry. I hope they cry. Their tears will be post workout drink.

Nice. Just don't injure yourself in the process. And if you do, might as well sue the gym and the makers of the smith machine.

No offense, but what you've decided to do is absolutely retarded. Time to take a step back and re-analyze the situation.

...Wouldn't it make sense to just get another gym? I mean, even if your plan succeeded what makes you think they won't just replace it with a yoga mat or something?

And considering there will be evidence in the form of video and this thread, it seems like it would be pretty easy to sue the crap outta you. Talk to a manager about it or something. Maybe you can buy the power rack off of them if you've got the room.

no room. And who's going to find out? Stuff breaks all the time. Customers aren't liable for damage to their shitty ass equipment.

Well, if a staff member happens to see your buddy standing there with a phone, recording, laughing at what you're doing, your intentions can be insinuated pretty clearly. Seriously, talk to somebody. Try the logical route first.

If you break it intentionally, its your fault. Don't be an idiot. Complain to the management or switch gyms.

It has nothing to do with them "finding out".

TallBill is right. You're being immature and talking about recording vandalism (which usually doesn't work out so well). Talk to someone in management. If they're unwilling to bring the power rack back, find out about your options for getting out of your contract and start looking for another gym.

You're right that this is a sh*tty situation, but try to be an adult about it.

You're right, I'm guilty of jealousy. 😱 But I definitely don't want your testicles, swollen with testosterone or otherwise.

Good luck with that. :Q If the bar snaps in half, don't let the weights plunge a sharp edge through your neck as it topples...

Don't destroy other people's shit for no reason. Are you twelve? What the hell, man. It's too bad they got rid of good equipment for bad, but you ought to use your big boy words in this situation.

A parasite that has a parasite?

So you don't like a piece of gym equipment so you feel that gives you a valid reason to break it? Are we suppose to be impressed with your childish behavior?

he said he's in a one year contract. I would be pissed too man, I don't blame you at all. But give it some time and realize what a dumb idea it is to destroy it.
