eh, you aren't worth the taps on the keyboard.

you all have turned this into a flame Mosh thread. go read my original post. that is what the thread was
intended to be.

Actually if you read the thread you would see that you needed no help getting this thread to become a flame fest.

All you want is for everyone to answer "YES, your boyfriend is an @sshole for not buying your clothes for you".

The flames started when that didn't happen.
no..... i never claimed he was an a$$hole for not buying me a dress - i said it would be nice to have a guy do that.

don't twist words man, it is so unbecoming.

Ok, you claimed that men who don't do this has no confidence in themselves, not that they are @ssholes, i don't know which is worse though, i would rather be called an @sshole than to be accused of having no confidence in myself.

Well, i and an overwhelming majority disagrees with that buying dresses for women has ANYTHING to do with confidence.

If anything, in this thread you have shown your lack of confidence in yourself by stating that you would wear that ugly dress instead of taking it back to the store.
after admitting you twisted my words you have no credibility.

LOL, great "answer"

I have no sense of size, so I'd definitely have to ask a girl her size beforehand. That being said, yes, I'd definitely have no problem buying a girl/my girlfriend a dress. Hell, I wouldn't have a problem modeling a dress for my girlfriend, though if she and I were the same size -- in my current condition -- then that'd be pretty messed up. :p

Any girl who dates me is bound to realize that I have minimal taste in clothing, and shouldn't get offended if I buy something that's a fashion faux pau. And I'm smart enough to keep the receipt. ;)

i just think it would be nice. if it doesn't happen i wouldn't hold it against him.

Of course you would. That is why you started this thread.
i started the thread asking if any guys have enough confidence in themselves to buy
their girl a dress. does it not take confidence?

whatta bunch of thread crappers.

See, you've hit upon the reason everyone is arguing with you.
If you had titled the thread: "guys, do you buy dresses for your girls?", you would have had civil discussion. But adding the part about having enough confidence is why we all took offense. It implies that the two possible answers are:
1. Yes, we buy dresses for our SO's, so we must have confidence.
2. No, we don't buy dresses for our SO's, so we must not have enough confidence.:(

When in fact, there is another reasonable and very common answer:
3. No, I don't buy dresses for my SO because she would rather pick out her own clothes, but I have plenty of confidence and I often pick out other kinds of gifts without her seeing them because I know she will appreciate it more than me spending our money on clothes that she hasn't tried on.

You not only implied this with your thread title, but then you went on to tell those of us who answered no, that we didn't have the balls to do it.
Do you seriously not understand how it is flamebait to accuse a bunch of guys of not having the balls??????

Well, it seems you have gotten your answer. Facts from this thread are, A good number, if not most, guys do not choose to buy a dress for their SO for any reason that they may have. There are some that like to buy dresses for their SO but they are few in number.

If a guy doesnt know 100% of their SO clothing tastes, current fashion if that makes an effect, he wont make a purchase.
thanks, oh voice of reason

Whatever... :disgust:

This is one topic that falls into the 'Mine field' category. Basically a loose-loose situation.

My sarcasm meter is confused. This is a tough one to call.

To answer the OP: no way.

If it's too small, rather than "I look so fat in this", I think what you are more likely to get is "so are you saying I need to lose weight!?", and as others have mentioned if it's too big you'll get "how fat do you think I AM?!" Not to mention I hate shopping and get enough strange looks without picking out women's clothes.

Even if the size is right, a) that will change after washing, and b) there is bound to be something else wrong.

Gotcha, too tough to tell either way.

Anyways, it was fun to read. At least it made my work day much less boring.

Is the word you are looking for "bisexual" or "metrosexual"?
