LOL. Yeah, I guess my marriage is really boring because I don't buy my wife dresses. WTF? Mosh assumes that all women are like her, which thank god, is not the case.

True enough. If I sincerely believed I had to play head games all day long with a woman to keep her with me, I would have invested all my money into hand lotion, pornography and divorce lawyers.

eh, if you can't do it and surprise her, you ain't got the ballz. plain and simple.

That is total BS.
It has nothing to do with having enough confidence.

Every woman is shaped differently. Some clothes will fit well and look nice and some won't, even if you know her size. My wife wouldn't want me to buy her clothes that she hasn't looked at and tried on first.
it is NOT total bs. every woman is shaped differently? how many shapes are there?
anyways, you lack confidence to give it a go.

Then explain to me exactly how it shows confidence to buy a dress for my wife when I've been married long enough(10 years) to know that she would prefer picking out her own clothes and would find it more irritating than romantic if I bought her a dress.
i guess you are telling me married life is boring and predictable?

ok, i'll answer: you have confidence in your marriage being boring and predictable.

LMFAO. Are you for real, or is this just trolling?

If you honestly think you can define my marriage based on whether or not I buy clothes for my wife without her trying them on, you have a lot to learn.

that's why he doesn't have me, totally.

Not trying to be touché, are you 100% sure you have him? There might be something he wants for surprise as well. Somebody has to make the move first, or else well thats history. Not saying who should make the first move by any means.
no way are you guys turning this into YABFT starring me!

LOL!

Well, you did set yourself up for that one.
true
so peace out

original question only

Let me ask you this then, if he did buy you a dress and you REALLY didn't like it, would you wear it?
damn straight
and you wouldn't hear me complain

And the point of you walking around in a dress you were not comfortable in would be?

That would be dishonest of you and would teach him nothing, next time he'll bu an equally ugly dress because he has no idea.

This goes two ways though, women have bought me clothes that i am not comfortable in, but when i was young i wore them anyway, wouldn't do that today though.
*yawn*

you sound like a grampa, but besides that - i am sure he would know my size beforehand, and not just pick any dress off the rack.

And you sound like a spoiled little teenybopper with romantic dreams.

Yeah, he would know your size, but is size the only thing you think of when you buy your own clothes? I am sure there are many other things that you think of than size.
awww, don't be a hater

A hater of what? Girls in ugly dresses?
how the fug do you know it would be ugly? jeez, give a man who dares to do something out of the norm some credit.

If you had read my posts you would know that it is not out of my norms to buy women dresses, but you refuse to answer all questions posed to you, the best you could do was a *yawn*.

I don't know if it would be ugly, neither do you, we are discussing a hypothetical situation and in this hypothetical situation you said you would wear your ugly dress.

Sounds like you already are holding it against him...but thats just me.
so PingSpike would you have the confidence to buy your girl, assuming you are a guy, a dress?

This thread is bs, It is nice though that you can work out some of your anger and frustration towards your boyfriend by beating up on the general atot populace, the bottom line is that it might be a good idea to sit down and have a conversation with your boyfriend and explain to him the kind of affection you would appreciate from him, and moreso what the problems are in this relationship that is making him not having bought you a dress such an annoyance.

However it goes, being upfront and honest with a your SO usually turns out for the best in the long run.

And yes I have bought dresses for my girlfriend before, but as she is the one who is actually wearing most times she prefers to go shopping with me for the dress. Just as I prefer to pick out my own clothes and she always calls me before buying me anything.

The same word could be applied to 90% of your posts.

Your thread title started the flaming because it implies that every man who doesn't buy dresses for his wife is a boring loser, with no confidence and no balls, who doesn't care enough about his wife to surpise her with a dress. All of which is complete and utter bs.

Well, it seems you have gotten your answer. Facts from this thread are, A good number, if not most, guys do not choose to buy a dress for their SO for any reason that they may have. There are some that like to buy dresses for their SO but they are few in number.

If a guy doesnt know 100% of their SO clothing tastes, current fashion if that makes an effect, he wont make a purchase.

Actually if you read the thread you would see that you needed no help getting this thread to become a flame fest.

All you want is for everyone to answer "YES, your boyfriend is an @sshole for not buying your clothes for you".

The flames started when that didn't happen.

Ok, you claimed that men who don't do this has no confidence in themselves, not that they are @ssholes, i don't know which is worse though, i would rather be called an @sshole than to be accused of having no confidence in myself.

Well, i and an overwhelming majority disagrees with that buying dresses for women has ANYTHING to do with confidence.

If anything, in this thread you have shown your lack of confidence in yourself by stating that you would wear that ugly dress instead of taking it back to the store.
