No, it's asking about whether you undo the top button (and belt, if necessary) or just open the access hatch.

Are we talking about in order to take a piss?

If so, un-zip only. Why the hell do you need to unbutton anything? I've seen people un-zip, un-button AND un-belt. What's up with that?

If you're like one of my roommates, you just don't bother zipping up in the first place.

Unzip FTW.

PS
This reminds me of that quote from Babylon 5: "Okay. It's morning. You're getting ready to go to work. You pull on your pants. Do you fasten and then zip or zip and then fasten?"

I unbutton because it's roomier.

Usually both, because I usually don't wear a belt or shirt that I have to tuck in.

eh?

I almost religiously only unzip, regardless of what I'm wearing, as in whether I have any shirt tucked in or not.
If the shirt is kind of long, I simply unzip, and then pull up the shirt with my free hand, and take care of business. :)

But now that I think of it, maybe this also depends on boxers/briefs? :p

Wearing boxers only, it's super fast just to undo zipper, and then undo boxer opening.

I always button up first and then zip up. :p

Oh, and button-flys are a bitch! I think I've owned a single pair in my life, and while I can usually do with just undoing a single button or two, far more work than I'd prefer to do.
