Fantastic!! Mark Mitsubishi has done the right thing. Thankfully for MarkD, this didn't end up in the courts - he would have won, but what a hassle that would have been.

I wouldn't bet on the conclusion of this deal until MarkD is driving away in the EVO he bid on.

People are already assuming this is a done deal and leaving the 'rally'

All he has to do is say that Mark Mitsushibi screwed him again and they and corporate will be receiving yet again another flurry of phone calls & emails from thousands of people. I'm going to take a guess and say that corporate has their foot on the owner of Mark Mit.'s throat saying "sell the fvcking car for $26K or else". Bad publicity + total harassment by thousands of people = get the deal done asap.

it's nice to see that the internet community really can come together, and it's wonderful to see how effective it can be when Headquarters lights a fire under the butt of those in the field.

agreed. I hope he gets the car!

thats great, but maybe if he held his ground and didn't accept marks offer out of principle, maybe mitsu will give him a car for free to avoid furthur tarnishment of their rep and maybe a public statement that mark mitsu will be punished or whatever.

He's already getting a $40,000 car for ~$26,000... Even with all the hassle, it was still worth it, or at least it would be worth it to me. $14,000 isn't something to shake a stick at when you make what I make =)

Umm.....You can easily find the car for $29K-$30K......not $40K

It's a custom car, one of a kind (or so they claim).

Hmm. The real shady things is that the email states that they withdrew the offer from the broker. What is the timeline of this whole thing? I wonder if the car was ever sold in the first place?

If they hold sold the car to a broker before the autction was over, then the car would really be somewhere else and not in the lot, right? I dunno much about the buying and selling and moving of vehicles, but it seems to me that a sold car wouldn't stay on a lot for too long. Can anyone provied more information? Would it show up as a tax lien?

Heh. Funny the "causes" that folks will latch onto. For the sake of traders/ebayers/etc I'm glad he stuck to his guns since the seller so blatantly smoketh the crack pipe.

Reading the final email from the seller, he still tries to hold on to having committed no wrongdoing. That's just crap, and imho, I'd love to see a story or two go on TV/radio regarding these practices. It's the type of business that I'd prefer not to deal with. Had they actually followed the terms of their "disclaimer" I would have no problem. As far as I can tell, however, they neither notified bidders or cancelled bids, not to mention not cancelling the auction early. Was a straight-forward 7-day auction.

So MarkD is apparently flying in to buy the car within the next 48 hours. heh.

Probably saw some of your comments about premarital sex and multiple partners and figured even with your russian friends, your Jedi cockblocking skillz would be too much.

I think he should resell it on ebay... Somebody might now bid $40K for it.

The dealer should just take away the $6k from the salesman that fvcked up and just make the damn customer happy. Which I think it's what they did. :)

Mark Mitsubishi offered me the ebay car at the auction price on Monday . I accepted their offer on Tuesday. If I could not have afforded the car and then started a negative post about the seller, I would have to kick my own ass.
