lol, that was awesome, I hope this guy wins his case.
"You stool my boots!"
"No, you can go in and get them at any time"
"That will be $140",
"The door is open, I give you full permission to retrieve your boots"
.....
"You stole my boots!"

I hope really really bad things happen to this company. Like a bunch of surfers decide to beat up the head schmuck.

Yeah, funny stuff. I like that they give him shit for moving his car into his garage... it's his property! Asking why he moved it into the garage is like asking why he moved his TV into the kitchen; none of your fucking business, eh?

I also love the exchange between the police and APS.
"He stole our boots."
"No, you can go remove them at any time."
"They're on private property."
"I give you permission to go on my property and collect your boots."
Police: "Sounds like he's letting you take your boots back."
"But that's $140."
"You feel free to take your boots. I won't stop you."
"He stole our boots!"

APS comes out as the douchiest company in the world. They make Wal-Mart look like Mother Teresa.

lmao...

This is too funny.

Reminds me of rent a cops in my area.

They used to give me a hard time back when i was in highschool.

I dont blame them honestly. There hard work lead to almost 0 break in thefts in my area minus a 2 car break ins.

Anyhow this APS thing definitely went too far.
If i was the owner, that GM would of gotten the pink slip, an appology to every resident issued, and a new business ethic placed.

Eh, you have to be a douchebag to be in that business anyhow. Just like collection agencies, ambulance chasers, meter maids, papparazzi, other despised employments. So the owner is the head douchebag, zero ethics.

we call them 'Texas Boots' here.

They are illegal in my city. I remember some stupid towing company started using them back in the late 80's. It didn't take long before they were ordered to cease and desist using them.

The next step was storing your towed car and charging $200 per day impound fee to get your car released. This was based on the Mechanic's Lean. It was successfully argued that it was wrong to use that to hold vehicles hostage, considering no work was done on the vehicle.

Now when you are towed they must release the car and take you to court to get any money. Needless to say there is no more predatory towing here.

booting is getting out of hand. its nothing but blackmail and it should be made illegal for a private company to boot and hold your vehicle hostage until you pay.

Yup, I can't believe how much power we've ceded to private companies. I hope I never live in an HOA'ed area.

I hate to break it to you, but most places are HOA'ed these days. We're looking to buy up here (NE Maryland), and every single housing area has a HOA unless it's rural, then you have to deal with well water and no cable service, which we're not keen on (plus the longer commute).

The key is finding an older community with a minimal HOA. I can't imagine paying hundreds each month for a HOA fee. That's absurd unless they wipe my butt for me with silk and clean the toilets.

If you have a good well, well water is awesome..

I have no problem with well water in general (wife does though), but we live near Aberdeen Proving Ground, an Army testing facility for the last 90 years and still a center of biological and chemical warfare agent development/testing. Plus, there's a nuclear plant up the river, and there is some lingering groundwater contamination from a few nasty waste dumps that were unregulated decades ago.

Well water is fine. Heavy metals in well water are not. ;)

I guess my little brother got of lucky on Memorial Day weekend.

Came out of his apartment in a gated community in Maryland to go to Ocean City and found his car gone.

Turns out the new security guard in the complex didn't see the correct parking sticker on the car. The sticker was there but faded and mixed in with other stickers. The car came back and the towing fee was not paid by my brother.

HOA are crazy glad in a lot of ways I don't live in one.

I can't view anything after the post where he says he contacted some news stations. The next post cuts off mid-picture and the rest of the post is blank. I saw some others were having a similar issue- anyone else?

Needs cliffs.

So, he won the battle but lost the war.

- Man lives in gated community
- HOA outsources parking enforcement to APS (Arizona Parking Solutions)
- Man comes home to find one of his cars booted due to parking tag in wrong place
- Man finds loopholes in laws, puts booted car on dollies and moves it into his garage
- Man tells APS that they can come pick up the boot
- Man refuses to pay, APS threatens charges, police are on man's side
- APS goes to HOA, who tell APS they're in the wrong to revoke his parking tag
- APS goes boot-crazy on whole neighborhood
- HOA tells them to back down
- pending litigation from APS to man

I think I got that right, feel free to correct anything I blootered or add anything I forgot.

Thanks for the cliffs, added them to OP

Same here, I had to just click and drag through the remainder of the thread, copy, then paste it into a blank text document. No pictures that way but at least you get to read what text is missing.

EDIT: Here's the text from the remainder of Dolly Man's thread if anyone else can't read it:

I was viewing with FireFox, but when I switched to IE the images and text came out fine for the last post he made. May not be the case for everyone else, but just an FYI.

Well, hoping to read about a resolution, and hopefully in favor of Blake.

This kind of crap always annoys me as I've been screwed over once for having a tiny, less than an inch, of my back tire hanging over a very faded, and almost non existent red "fire line" car spot in my apartment complex and had my car towed. Friking $250 to get it back. Seen it happen to other people around here although it seems to have stopped because one old guy moved in recently and sits on his front porch all day long with a shotgun across his lap. I'm serious! He tells me every time he sees that f-ing tow truck guy come up to try and take someone's property, he walks up with that shotgun in hand and they take off.

Seriously wish that guy had been here when they towed my car.
