Guy slaps baby on a Flight, utters racial slur

The boy's mother, Jessica Bennett, 33, of Minnesota told the FBI that she and her son were seated in row 28, seat B, on February 8 on Delta Flight 721 that originated in Minneapolis, according to an FBI agent's affidavit filed in U.S. District Court in Atlanta this week.

The boy began crying because of the altitude change, and his mother tried to soothe him, court papers said.

Then Hundley, who was seated next to the mother and son, allegedly told her to "shut that ('N word') baby up," according to court documents.
Hundley then turned around and slapped the 2-year-old in the face with an open hand, which caused the child to scream even louder, the affidavit said.
The boy suffered a scratch below his right eye, court papers said.
Other passengers on the plane assisted Bennett, and one of them heard the slur and witnessed the alleged assault, the affidavit said. The plane landed at Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson International.

The charge of simple assault on someone under age 16 carries a prison sentence of one year, court papers said.
Hundley has since been suspended from his job pending the investigation.

Other reports also say that the mother claimed that Hundley smelled of Alcohol and had a few drinks on the plane. He says he had only one, but she believes he was drunk when he got on the flight.

Of course:

Hundley claimed he merely asked Bennett to silence the child and drank a single alcoholic beverage.

I don't care how annoyed this guy was by a scared baby crying on a plane. You have no right to put your hands on someone else's child. He would have caught a mean left hook from me as soon as we finished landing.

Crying kids is just something you have to accept on a flight. It is even worse when there is a lot of turbulence. Kids don't know what's going on and they get scared. I have no problem with it.

I have raised two kids, grown now, but we used to fly when they were babies, and the altitude change causes pain in some babies ears. Babies are going to cry when they are in pain or frightened. Nothing a parent can do but what this lady did, try your best to soothe them.

People are so intolerant these days. I hope that fucker goes to prison, I really do.

This. The racial slur just completes the picture of what kind of scum this guy is, but slapping someone else's two year old (ie, assault) should result in a nice stint in jail IMO.

agreed. like i said in the OT thread if he had done that to my child i would have beat the shit out of him. Even if i seen it i would be slamming the guy against the wall making sure he didn't try again. assaulting a baby screams psycho.

I hate kids, especially when they whine for NO reason. But I also dont think that he should slap the kid or call him THAT. kids cry, thats their prerogative.
