Growing old is only a bad thing if you're superficial. He missed watching the miracle of birth, he missed celebrating decades of marriage with the woman he loved, and he missed the experience of raising a child.

But ugh, why did he help her while the car was still moving?! :frown:

Man, his wife.... :(

Seems like he was driving his pregnant wife to the hospital to give birth, but they didn't make it. She started to give birth in the car, he tried to help her out. He hit a tree and died instantly. They were married less than a year, this is their first child. Wife and kid are fine, physically. Wasn't my best friend, but he was part of our little group, we used to hang out together. I have no idea what I will tell the wife when I see her. I'm sorry will not cut it.

That is really terrible, I'm sorry to hear about your friend. Anything you say to her will be a comfort, really. In situations like this, just knowing other people are there for you, that's the thing that's important.

He also wont see his child grow up and be an adult... Isnt that a joy of parenthood?

Yeah, that'd be a pretty horrible thing to say.

Essentially you're saying...

"Be glad that he's dead, so he dosen't have to grow old with your sorry ass and a bad child" --- how horrible is that :|

Oh my god, what a sad story... Sounds really amazing that the mother and baby were able to survive though... Any details? Was he not wearing a seatbelt and she was or something? Did she give birth there or was she able to make it to the hospital to deliver?

Details are still sketchy for me too, I don't know if he was wearing a seatbelt. She gave birth there.

At least the wife and kid are ok. Thats really sad.

I hope I'm not mistaken, but did he try to help her out at the same time that he was driving?

Yes, seems like he panicked and did exactly that.

Actually that would go on my top 10 list of things NOT to say to a widow. :p

Ouch. I keep saying this... I've been watching "E.R." reruns and this is so much a story straight out of an episode.
