You think if someone was going to murder someone they obviously wouldn't go to a store and buy a gun? Ban guns, you'll see stabbings rise.

Criminals will ALWAYS be able to get guns illegally. Period. End of story.

The difference in crime rate between Canada and the US has absolutely NOTHING to do with the number of guns. Zip, zilch, nada. It's about societal and enviornmental factors, period.

you can get any gun that easy here though it...

Your logic is true though how if guns arent used for murders individuals will find other ways. HOwever I do believe that with few guns fewer total murders will occur.

Then again Canadian's and AMericans just have different attitudes and are less likely to commit murders or even crimes.

If you want to carry a gun mercy...you should move. Canada is not being pussified, its being smart. This is why our country is safe. You dont NEED a gun, because we dont all carry one. Learn a lesson. The USA has the highest murder rate IN THE WORLD. Canada has one of the lowest. And thats by ratio, not based on population. The USA is a cesspool of violence, which is why all the people need a gun. Id want a gun too if I lived in the USA. You guys screwed up a long time ago, thanks to some redneck congressmen that feared black people.

Owning/carrying a gun is not being a coward; it's being responsible.

Do you use the locks on your doors? Why do you do that? To protect your family and your property, I would guess.

What if someone breaks through those doors, and threatens your life? Will you...

A) Let them harm or kill you
B) Fight back

If you choose B, would you prefer to fight back with:

A) An inffective weapon, such as pepper spray
B) An effective weapon, such as a firearm
C) A phone (that is, to call the police)

Self-defense: a human right

Edit for spelling

The Truth about Bowling for Columbine

Ok point taken but the whole doc still makes sense and is still is very close to the truth..maybe not the whole entire truth but it paints a very truthful picture.

But who cares...do you see a columbine type situation ever in Canada...no...do you see kids as young as 1 year old either blowing their heads off or killin one of their siblings...no....do you see any school shootings...no
i find it quite scary to go to high school and having metal detectors at the door with security guards, cameras all over..thank god you dont see that in Canada.
another thing that pisses me off is US Customs..bunch of pricks. The name of the game for them is "intimidation" you pull up to the booth..theres an ARMED customs officier, they make you turn off your car and have your hands where they can see them. they pull over any french accent person and make them go through luggage check (could take 1 hour) cause their french or any mid eastern lookin guy (even though they could have been livin in Canada for 30 years)..gotta love racial profilin
thank god Canada does none of this..makes me love my country that much more.

You're not getting it.

The f*cked to hell American education system is to blame for school shootings. Not guns.
American society is to blame for the number of criminals we create, and the American justice system is to blame for the number that are set free.

Guns are not the problem. PEOPLE are the problem.

People were ALWAYS the problem, and WILL ALWAYS be the problem.

A one year old couldn't even hold a bullet, much less a gun. In this day and age, racial profiling is almost neccessary. After all, from what I know, those terrorists are middle-eastern. Naturally not all middle-easterners are terrorists, but I can see why some guards would profile. Quit whining; life is unfair.

Racial profiling is a sorry thing, from the human rights point of view, but... if you go duck hunting, you go where the ducks are. (to continue with the gun terms :) )

Its not some guards..they have a special unit for a second stop after the initial booth so anyone that looks anything like mid eastern gets pulled over, checked regardless. Im white, but i have friends that have told me this happens and ive seen it happen. If you were mid eastern and everytime you went over the border, you were checked regardless just cause of your religion, race would piss the hell out of me...i always thought the law was based on that everyone had equal rights.

All im asking is to keep your guns out of Canada, and we can continue to live peaceful lives that are not inundated daily with gun murder. Do you know that in Canada when somebody gets murdered with a gun it is usually national news? Because its a rarity cross country. There are probably more people killed daily in LA than in all of Canada yearly. Go figure.

Oh, you heard it on TeeVee. Well, it must be real then!

If someone really wants to kill someone else bad enough - guess what? They'll get a gun, smuggled or not. Or fvck the gun, they'll just beat them to death with a hockey stick or something, while we're stereotyping here. And here's a novel concept - maybe the guns are smuggled because people want them. That ever occur to you? And that since you can't buy one legally, they'll bring them from America, the firearm lover's paradise. And of course, the American sellers want to bring them to Canada, since a Saturday Night Special that garners US$100 in Detroit will pull about CDN$500 across the ditch in the GTA.

I'm Canadian. I like firearms. And I hate people like you who want the entire nation to be pussified to the point where we might as well just give away our freedom and property to anyone with a blunt object.

They can't explain it. To the gun-grabbers, it's a "statistical anomaly" that is convieniently ignored.

A year and a half ago, Michigan instituted a shall-issue CCW law. Since July 2001, crime has dropped by almost 50 percent. Fact. Look it up.

THE HIGHEST MURDER RATE IN THE NATION.

[/quote]I read that after a county in Fla. did the same, its crime rate dropped tremendously as well:wine:

Now bigshot did you go to those site I posted about CDN gun control and the miserable failure it is?

Try this one then better yet I'll dump it here for you

Here are Breitkreuz?s twenty reasons why a public inquiry is needed:

1. Government still has not reported to Parliament what the total cost of the firearms program has been so far.

2. Government still has not reported to Parliament what the total cost will be to fully implement the firearms program.

3. Treasury Board officials finally admitted that even they won't know the total cost of the firearms program until fall.

4. The government has been hiding the truth from Parliament and the public for seven years and hasn?t been any more forthright in the last five months.

5. The government?s estimates are still grossly understated because the Justice Department?s Plans and Priorities Report for 2003-2004 was tabled in March with 111 blanks.

6. The government refuses to reveal the costs of enforcement and compliance as recommended by the Auditor General.

7. The government refuses to release the cost benefit analysis on the firearms program by declaring it a Cabinet secret.

8. Twenty-one months have passed and the Privacy Commissioner is still waiting for the Justice Minister?s response to his many recommendations about the mishandling of private and personal information in the firearms program.

9. More than 500,000 gun owners in Canada failed to obtain a firearms licence and cannot register their guns without one.

10. More than 600,000 individuals still have to register or re-register their firearms before the end of June and Justice Department officials admitted they had received only 53,000 letters of intent to register.

11. The government refuses to release the entire 115-page report on the economic impact of the gun registry, once again declaring it a Cabinet secret.

12. Up to ten million guns still have to be registered.

13. Five million registered firearms still have to be verified by the RCMP.

14. Seventy-eight percent of the firearms registered have blank or unknown entries.

15. 813,822 firearms have been registered without serial numbers and millions of firearms cannot be uniquely identified.

16. 131,000 persons prohibited from owning firearms by the courts are not tracked by the system.

17. Tens of thousands of licenced gun owners cannot be located in the registry or the licencing system.

18. Eight provinces and three territories either want the gun registry suspended or scrapped all together with the western provinces refusing to prosecute Firearms Act offences.

19. The Firearm Interest Police database is operating contrary to the Privacy Act and the Charter of Rights.

20. Three constitutional challenges by Aboriginal people are currently before the courts and gun registration for Inuit people has been stopped by a court injunction.

Guns are not the reason Canada is safer . I don't know what it is ,but guns aint it .
I know the cold definatley cuts down on crime as people hunker down in winter and crime rates statistically are lower the mercury drops.
