Don't hold your breath. Inventory should get back to normal if there isn't another big shooting in the next 6 months, but prices have no chance of dropping that much.

Umm, if guns are cheap that means all the armchair soldiers will be stockpiling again.
Prices will jump UP until production gets back on track.

Even before this whole ammo scare and everything, finding 30c/round for .223 was special, and I had to buy 1000 at a time to get that price. Maybe once fired reloads, but I don't think brand new brass ammo will reach that price for a very long time... possibly ever

You could occasionally find it for .25cents or so. With the steel stuff more at the 20 cent range.

Im more wondering when he was getting the 9mm for .10 cents! havent seen it that low in the last 10 years or so (since thats when i could actually buy it and paid attention to prices). Now if he ment .20 cents then id agree!

edited my op

I've still yet to see 'raised' ammo prices. They're high in two scenarios: gun shows, and online gun stores. In big box stores (i.e. Walmart, Academy, Basspro) it's the same and decent gun shops are still the same.

Available is still low, sure, but only on range ammo. Which I've noted the silliness of many a time...availability of cheap FMJ is low because people buy it all up because availability of cheap FMJ is low. Quit paying attention to it, and if you shoot at a range, hopefully they're not dicks and you can just buy the ammo when you go. Quit enabling online scalpers.

I'm thinking ammo is still gonna be scarce for a while. I went to go shoot this weekend, all the ranges were packed. The ones that accept reservations were booked, the others had no parking in the lots. Crazy busy.

When you look at the bottom of the barrel, you usually find something 'cheap'. This is DPMS. Not knocking it for what it is, but they are pretty much near the bottom. And was the M&P new or factory refurb?

Palmetto has had complete rifles for $599-699 for the past several months.

Even Colts are getting back to pre-panic prices.

It's actually $505 shipped after the $50 MIR DPMS is running.

The M&P15 Sport is $579 shipped right now as well, and that comes with an Magpul MBUS rear sight and PMAG.

Both are excellent entry-level factory-built ARs that are good enough for 95% of AR buyers (typical shooters who plink at the range, clean their firearms regularly and aren't dropping out of helicopters in Afghanistan).

PSA's deals are good, but be prepared for a long wait; the last time I ordered from them, I didn't get shipment notification for 5 weeks.

Crud ... with this value resurgence, spending $539 on a GSG MP40 in .22 lr seems like a waste. 🙁
But ask yourself this ... "who has an MP40???" *crickets*

I've heard DPMS rifles are kinda sketchy these days, questionable quality and all that but if they run fine that's a good deal. I haven't heard of M&P rifles but if they are anything like the polymer pistols then that is a damn good deal. I'd still go with a Romanian AK though...

I've yet to find an ammo shortage or jacked up ammo prices. I have my little backstock of ammo but when I go to the range I normally just buy 50 or 100 rounds there. 50 is still ~$20 and 100 is still ~$40. Carry ammo has always been $20-$30 for 20 depending on the brand. I have never went to the store to buy ammo and not been able to buy said ammo.

The only place I have witnessed an ammo shortage is Walmart and other general merchandise stores. I wouldn't go there expecting to find a big selection. I go to the gun store for that.

All I see is shady reseller scum desperately trying to maintain panic supply status quo by camping everything at Wal-Mart every morning so they can divide it into sandwich baggies of 10 rds for $10 for stuff like .22LR at gun shows.

Shit is hilarious.

I've been building the ammo fort now that .223 is back down to reasonable levels. You'll never see it back to 25 cents a round unless something extraordinary happens. I can't even imagine what that might be considering that every single shooting in America makes the nightly national news. The anti-gun drumbeat is still going strong. Be happy at 40 cents.

You might have ordered during the peak or rush times, as PSA usually doesn't take that long in my experience. Depends on what it is I guess.

Walmart box of 9mm used to be 7.99, now it's 10 or 11 bucks. Until that comes back to 7.99, I won't officially declare the price gouging over.

Ugh, wish we could buy guns over here like that, I'd have on in a heartbeat.

Shut up, no you wouldn't.

I need to get back to stockpiling because I'm just waiting for the day Kalifornistan puts background checks for ammo purchases into law. They're currently working on legislation to require registration of homemade guns...but those that already exist are exempt. Unenforceable laws are unenforceable?

Are you ever going to decide if you're pro or anti gun already?🙄

lol. was thinking the same thing. in 1 thread he says brits don't want guns but he's so into them he even buys replicas and says he wishes he could get one and if he could would do it right away.
