Guns are cheap again! (AR15 for $550) When will ammo prices drop?

I think the continued rise of metal prices will keep ammo expensive until someone develops an all polymer cartridge, or some other round that doesn't require brass, steel, and/or lead.

I'm still confused as to how one can think ammo is expensive, because they want .25/ brass but .26/steel is available.

Ammo prices have been high for 5+ years. Ever since copper prices shot up.

In like 2005 or 2006. I could buy a box of 38 special cheap range ammo for like $6-7 for a box of 50. (with brass casings).

357 mag shots used to be a couple bucks more, like $9-10. Now, good luck finding a box of 50 for under $20!

If I want to go to the range and fire 250 rounds, say 4 boxes of 38s and 1 box of 357s, It's well over $100 just for ammo, then figure in the $15 or so "range fee"... That's too much for 1 hour of practice.

Anyhow, I at some point maybe will pick up a 22 for the range ... seems like 22 will be best for regular practice, then, every now and again take out the 357 just to make sure I stay used to the recoil.
