I have heard good things about the VEPR and the 5.45 carbine is exactly what I am looking for. I don't know if I can get it for $570 where I am in MD though.

Ergonomically, the Galil is total sh!t I agree. You should mount a HoloSight to that MP5. :D

It was made for the little HK's. Ever go to the Knob Creek machine gun shoot before justint?

If you are into MG's, thats where you need to be in October. Lucky me, my brother in law is a gunsmith for an FFL licensed MG manufacturer.:p

I get to have my cake and eat it to. He could move in with us for free if he wanted.

The Galil is an ergomic nightmare and the post-ban prices suck as well. I haven't actually made it to the Knob Crek shoot yet, might have to check it out. Don't need no fricking holosights on the MP-5. The trijicon night sights have worked great up until this point. Must be nice to be in the an FFL Class III type. Of course it is also nice to be able to get MP-5's and the like on the GSA special purchase schedule $999.99 baby:)

I have only limited range time with a Galil, but found the location of the selector switch (near your thumb if right handed) and the canted charging handle vastly superior to an AK.... so I am not sure what you are referring to about bad ergonomics.... Unless you are refering to an AR vs ARM with the wood forearm and bipod. My only experience is with the AR... I have found the biggest drawback to the Galil is weight....

SKS's are great. They were even better when you could get a Russian one for $90. I have a couple I use for "bad weather" varmint abatement. You can drive fenceposts with them, bounce 'em around in the truck bed, let 'em get wet and freeze and they just laugh at the abuse.

As far as the Galil, it just shoulders like crap for me and is uncomfortable. I am an average size person so its not me that is the problem. I make no aspersion on its durability and effectiveness whatsoever though.
