I hear ya. As a person who admittedly enjoys the occasional, casual troll, there are clear and obvious hot button topics that are usually instant troll bait, but not always. Sometimes people have genuine questions regarding sensitive subjects and an unwanted blowup results. I have experienced that myself. The holocaust is near the top of the list in the US. Noone else really gets bent out of shape about the holocaust like Americans do. So, I figured he had just flipped open the safety lid and placed his thumb firmly on the holocaust troll hot button and pushed it down, but maybe I was wrong.

Not really, no . . . not in any significant numbers. Germans had FAR better tanks and anti-tank artillery, among other things. What they didn't have by the time of D-Day and beyond was air superiority or fuel for their armor.

Gun nuts nutty thinking on these matters is nuts . . . which, coincidentally, is what this man said to the Nazis when they demanded he surrender at Bastogne:

Exponentially? Because of 5000 guns? You do know there were millions of soldiers involved in this right? The casualties due to 5000 upgraded guns would have produced a very small spike in the overall casualty numbers, if for no other reason than the 3rd Reich was running out of ammo for bolt-actions, let alone ammo for full-automatics.

Doesn't work. According to the idiots at the ATF, once a machine gun, always a machinegun. The receivers would never be allowed into the US in working condition.

The best I think you could do is import the rest of the parts, and manufacture a semi-auto receiver for them.

I suspect more Russians and Germans died from cold and starvation than 5000 stg44s would have killed.
 
Not sure what you mean by assault rifle, but the world's first automatic rifle was the Mondragon rifle. The BAR was also around before the StG 44. I guess if the magazine sets it apart, the StG 44 was the first "assault" rifle.

I don't think that 5,000 more would've made much of a difference.
